Opt out of Starlink coverage on iPhone?
I saw that Apple would be partnering with Starlink for satellite messaging coverage and I'd like to ensure that there is a way to opt out of this as a personal choice.

There are two separate satellite-related communications paths associated with Apple,kPhone, given the recent announcement.
There is the original out-of-coverage satellite access provided by Apple, and that coverage involves Globalstar.
There is now the recently-announced direct-to-satellite cellular, and that depends on the chosen cellular carrier and cellular plan. That includes the T-Mobile coverage (currently in beta) involving Starlink.
If you don’t want any dealing with SpaceX Starlink, then you’ll want to discuss that with T-Mobile if they’re your carrier, if (when?) the T-Mobile direct-to-satellite beta concludes with general coverage availability. Or discuss that preference with whatever other terrestrial carriers might eventually add Starlink coverage, or with whatever carriers might align with Kuiper*.
The recent announcement around Apple was the addition of Apple iPhone to the T-Mobile beta, as that beta was previously only available to Android devices.
*if and when the Kuiper constellation comes online, and if and when Kuiper then adds direct-to-satellite coverage.
Only if you use a carrier that has partnered with Starlink AND you have opted into their service already.
You can’t opt out of a service you DO NOT HAVE.

I’ve been an Apple customer since iPods were first released and I will cancel everything if this happens. Absolutely horrible business decision. Read the room Apple.
What are you talking about? T-Mobile has partnered with Starlink, not Apple. If you're a T-Mobile customer, take it up with them.

• Crickets..... Really! I would suspect that after learning the actual facts, including that Android users were using StarLink with T-Mobile much longer and the partnership is not with Apple at all, you would be looking to offer an update on what you have expressed. Hopefully with the posts provided, it will help with your decision making, and you may want to review your sources where you are getting your information. In what way is turning off Software Updates preventing StarLink access for you?
You don't have T-Mobile, so it would not concern you even if you wanted it.
• Currently T-Mobile customers would have to sign up for the beta, you don't automatically get it by updating your software.
• T-Moblie customers will have the option to use StarLink if they want by choosing a supported plan or paying $15 a month extra for access if that is what they want to do.
I’m beginning to think that conspiracy theorists on the left are even worse than on the right.

At the very least an Opt-Out option for Starlink but in all honesty I expect better from you Apple than doing business with someone as Elon Musk.
Apple isn't doing business with Starlink. TMobile is.

Star link is gonna be on the new update
Not if you're not using T-Mobile. And even then, ONLY if you OPT-IN to be a beta tester for it.
Again. Apple has not partnered with Starlink. Apple does not provide ANY connectivity services at all. The carriers do that.
Please stop it with the paranoia.

The fact that it will be mandatory is ridiculous. Reconsider apple
Where do people come up with such nonsense? Read this --> The Starlink Myth - Apple Community
Is there any way you could believe having Starlink will ever be mandatory or that Apple pushed it to you after you read the link?

Did you read past the first post? Clearly not. If you switch to Android, they've had access to Starlink, far longer than iPhone. And Apple hasn't partnered with Starlink to begin with. Arm yourself with knowledge before you waste other peoples time and actually read and learn as this has been explained over and over and over and over in the 13 pages of this thread. Including reading this --> The Starlink Myth - Apple Community

Don't use T-Mobile. If you do use T-Mobile, don't opt into their beta service. If you stick with them after the beta, you can ask T-Mobile how to opt out of their service since it's them who partnered with Starlink.

You cannot opt out of what you never opted into.
Please, go to the first page of the thread. Go to the top, just under the left corner of the original post and change the Sort by to "Oldest." Then, read the whole thread.
Much will become clear.

Not true. My son did the update on Friday on his iPhone and had a lot of trouble being able to call or text without WiFi. A few hours later when he texted me it showed “iMessage-Satellite”. We have at&t
Which has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with Starlink. AT&T uses it's own Satellites.
Yeah, not true on T-Mobile. You have to opt-in to get it. If you do not manually sign up for the beta, you don’t get access to it. Talked with customer service directly on it, but believe what you want to believe I guess.

It’s mandatory for t-mobile users. I can literally see it right now. You aren’t going to just gas lite me. It doesn’t say anything about beta. It literally says demo then you have it. No info about how to remove it or what it was. If you aren’t doing to help stop commenting non sense.
Again, you are 100% WRONG. There is NOTHING mandatory, even for T-Mobile customers. You MUST Opt-In if you are their customer.
Instead of arguing your totally incorrect belief about this on an Apple Forum with other users, none of whom are associated with T-Mobile, why aren't you complaining to T-Mobile? This really has nothing to do with Apple. It's a service offered by T-Mobile, which AGAIN, you must Opt-In to. There's nothing mandatory and no one can make you opt-in if you don't want to opt-in.

I don’t want to be connected either. My family has been with APPLE products for almost 20 years and if they are partnering with Starlink we will be switching all our products to Samsung. Apple has made a big mistake. All iPhones, IPads and watches will be quickly going into the garbage. We’ve already sold all our Apple stocks as well.
WOW. Best example of "Cut off ones nose to spite your face" we've yet seen in this ill-informed, fear-based ridiculous thread. But thank you. In selling off your Apple Stock, you've likely helped my Apple Stock go up in value! And Apple isn't partnered with Starlink. But since you didn't bother to read any of this thread to know the truth, you overreacted for nothing.
