Every time I touch my iphone it asks me to verify my account, but it refers to my daughter's email address, not mine. (I did inherit my daughter's iphone, but this is a new one.) How can I stop it?

It will do that if there are apps on the phone that were downloaded with your daughter's Apple Account.
If so, the solution is to delete the apps and to download them again with your Apple Account.

Thanks. I've deleted a lot of apps, but still get the message. It sometimes refers to imessage, but I can't find that as an app - can I re-download that?

The app for iMessage is just called Messages. It is probably already on your phone. Just search for it (swipe down from the middle of any Home screen).
