How can I record 4:3 videos on iPhone 16 Pro?

Good afternoon. I use translator. Can you tell me how to shoot video on 16 pro in 4:3 format? On other iPhones it is possible, but on 16 iPhone it doesn't work? Why it doesn't say anywhere that there is no such function on 16 iPhone? Will the update solve the problem or not? Help me.. :(

There are third party apps that support 4:3 video recording. But it’s apparent that Apple has dropped 4:3 video recording on the native Apple Camera app.

On the rare occasion I need 4:3 I use Filmic Pro, but there are others.

Apple does not generally give prior notice of changes to hardware or software. The 4:3 recording format is gone on several iPhone 16 models. You can provide feedback directly to Apple using the link below if you would like to see the feature return. Apple does not respond individually to feedback provided.

Hi Sravankra, I have the same problem as them, I actually see you on multiple threads replying this same solution. thanks for recommending.

But theres something we need you to understand is that doing the steps you mentioned, iphone 16e and lower models this works Its called quicktake. basically if you swipe photo shutter to the right it will take 4:3 video if you have set photo on 4:3 am i correct?

but the thing is in iphone 16 models & up, instead of staying in 4:3 ratio quicktake when you swipe it right quicktake automatically becomes 16:9.

I confirmed this as I tried it on store display models of iphone 16 models. apprently only 16e has capability of 4:3 quicktake in the iphone 16 lineup. all higher models automatically zooms in to 16:9 quicktake.

the question is did apple take out the 4:3 quicktake? is it a bug? if they did take it out why no prior notice about it?

this is a essential tool for content creators. please put it back. thank you

My opinion is that the phone is good, especially after iphone 11... but it is very necessary to shoot video 4:3, especially the front camera. There is no information anywhere that this function is not available, or it will not be at all. And the most important question: will this function return with the new update or not?
