Final Cut Pro X compatibility and number of device

I want to buy Final Cut Pro.

I have two devices:

  • iMac Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017 with Ventura 13.7.3 (22H417)
  • MacBook Pro 14'', 2021 with Sequoia 15.3 (24D60)

I have two questions:

1) Can I buy Final Cut on the App Store with my ID Apple and use it on both devices?

2) Actually on App Store runs Final Cut Pro 11, but it requires MacOs 14.6, and so it doesn't run on my iMac.

How can I download an older version, i.e Final Cut Pro 10?

What Niel said.

In the new mac, you will get the current version (11.0.1 at the time of writing). In the old mac, after you have purchased, go to your account (bottom left) in the App Store, you will see FCP amongdt your purchases; click the download button. You will receive a notice that the current version is not compatible and will be asked if you want the most recent version that works.

Note that libraries created on a newer version of FCP will not open in the older one.

If intend to work on the same production in both macs you’ll have to pass xml back and forth (not a big deal if only occasionally needed but not something you should overlook).
