I can't upload file to iCloud Drive due to "Uploading folders to iCloud Drive is not supported. Only files can be uploaded using your web browser"

I tried to upload photos and videos to iCloud Drive by dragging them, but the message

"Uploading folders to iCloud Drive is not supported. Only files can be uploaded using your web browser.." appeared, and I couldn't upload them.

Some files can be uploaded, while others cannot.

How can I upload them?

Take the files out of the folder and then upload to icloud drive, as you post can't upload folders.

Hi okamoto161,

If you can't upload folders to iCloud Drive using web browser on Mac, you can try the following ways to upload:

Way 1. Upload Files to iCloud Drive on Windows PCs

Just install the iCloud for Windows app on your computer, and set it up, you will get an iCloud Drive folder on the Windows File exporer, then drag and drop files to the folder directly.

Way 2. Upload Files to iCloud Drive on iPhone or iPad

1. Please go to Settings on your iPhone or iPad.

2. Then tap your name > iCloud > Turn on iCloud Drive.

3. Open the Files app on your iPhone, then click On My iPhone.

4. Select the files you want to copy to iCloud Drive.

5. Then open the iCloud Drive, and long press to paste to iCloud Drive.

Check more details, pleace find here to upload files to iCloud Drive.

Best Regards

I have this issue too and nobody online seems to fully understand. Please help!

I get the same error "Uploading folders to iCloud Drive is not supported. Only files can be uploaded using your web browser" under the following conditions...

  1. File vs Folder: Trying to upload a FILE not a FOLDER - I understand you cannot upload folders
  2. Storage space: Over 1.5TB free on my iCloud Drive, files are all under 100MB, so no issues with storage
  3. Moving the file source: Moving folders, compressing and uncompressing, etc. no help
  4. Doing this on my 2024 MacBook Pro using the iCloud Drive on https://www.icloud.com/

Any other suggestions?

Thank you!
