Problems in iOS 18.3.1 of Storage, iCloud, Messages, and Apple Payment

Please list the issues/bugs that are in ios 18.3.1

Mine are

Iphone storage bug which has been there since 18.2 I heard it was there in ios 17.3 but it wasn't an issue for me

Icloud storage bug thats been there since ios 18.0.0 where the iclous storage keeps doubling for no reason.

MESSAGES bug where the texts aren't being deleted even when u manually delete them from recently deleted folder. Apple said it takes up to 4 days to delete on the server end. Its still not doing this. This bug has been there since ios 18.2 and still not fixed

Apple payment bug, I just got a new card and I had it activated back in Oct. went to the bank everything. Its been fine until today when it asked me to verify it. Its fine but I just dont know why it asked me to verify it when its already been verified by apple and the bank. Im thinking its an ios 18.3.1 bug all I do is enter the 3 digit number from the back of the card and its fine

And it’s Not Possible to

“Uninstall the Update”

I’ve filed several complaints against Apple and texted with them and they said they don’t see Any

Update Fix in the near future 🤬🤬

I told them that They’re going to lose MILLIONS OF DOLLARS from Thousands and Thousands of customers and customers are going to switch to another provider and they don’t seem to Care.!!!🤬🤬🤬

Now we should only have to pay a 1/4 of our bill..!!!

Yes, lots of people do.

I've had no issues so far and I've had it since the day it was released.

What exactly is it that the phone "won't" do outside of the house? If you explain exactly what your issues are, it's like that someone will be able to help you.

And it’s Not Possible to
“Uninstall the Update”

Apple has never supported downgrading iOS.

I told them that They’re going to lose MILLIONS OF DOLLARS from Thousands and Thousands of customers and customers are going to switch to another provider and they don’t seem to Care.!!!

That seems unlikely.

You might consider turning of Automatic Updates.

You still haven't told us what problems you're actually having with your phone, other than "it won't." This leads me to believe that you didn't come here for help but merely to rant. Not an appropriate use of the forum.

Best of luck.

All I can say, is that since the iOS 18.3.1 update, I have never had so many problems! I have friends who have phones that are newer and older than mine and every one of them is having problems since this update! This is not a coincidence! May need to do with email messages with images not downloading, screen freezes, WhatsApp crashing and location service problems to name a few. Every one of us have tried various tips, including full restarts which are totally inconvenient when they do not work. There has been enough discussion and I think that all everybody can do is just sit and wait for Apple to release the next update which will hopefully cure some, if not all of the issues that are genuinely related to iOS 18.3.1 and not just glitches with other apps.

Large Problems with 18.3.1

Charging and Battery time: I consistently charge my iPhone SE 2022 (unknown generation, but it's 2 years old) and rarely leave apps open, perhaps part of the 18.3.1 issue I have been having.

Apps like Facebook, Edge, Gmail, Outlook, Messenger, and Facebook Messenger are all very poorly set up for some, as they do not load the pages. The messenger has issues with notifications from my family chat, as it used to receive them instantly. When talking with my siblings directly or through the family group, my message freezes, and I have to close it and reopen it before it can be sent. The journal which I use for medication journaling according to my primary provider's order now goes into automatic format mode and numbered bullet points are turned into when I've written the hour and am and pm and begin writing my medications down it will jump to the front of the ( : ) symbol. It is set up as ( ie 02.) And then I have written down the remaining minutes already. When I turn off format mode, it erases the hour numbers I wrote down. If I go back and edit on that date, it does that again, and when I turn off the recorded hours written down number, the previously written hours are erased by turning off that format mode.

There are some issues with the Phone. I called a medical office, and it didn't actively hear me. The admin ended the call since I couldn't speak through the vehicle sync to my iPhone. I had to call again, and that time, using the speaker instead of the sync to the vehicle was okay. It was a short talk about scheduling, etc. It might have dropped my line if it had continued for a few minutes.

Finally, I have been seeing a few times where my home screen slides down like it is going to power off, like a touch-screen tablet, but I haven't touched anything to cause that. I must triple-tap my home button to get it back up correctly.

I need this update resolved as it's becoming harder and harder to utilize my iPhone. And this isn't an older device creating issues like others have stated. It is a software bug/glitch that has impaired native and 3rd apps, phone calls, and general usage. Other community members have stated that they are trying to use a reset, which I have, as well as turning off (shutting down) the entire device and starting it back up, and nothing has resolved these issues.

I do hope Apple can quickly resolve these issues and send out hotfixes, so that I can utilize my personal phone. As my company's device, I have not updated to 18.3.1, and that device works just fine.

iphone 16 pro, battery drain in idle , running ios 18.3.1

There is never a time when any phone, dumb or smart, is doing nothing at all. So there is no “idle”. At the very least it is reporting its location to the cellular network so if someone calls you the call can reach you; if the signal is weak this can use a lot of power. But there are a lot of other things going on, including indexing content to update the search database, updating weather, stocks, and other content; downloading email, receiving texts, receiving and posting notifications, etc.

What are the conditions under which you are seeing battery drain, and how much? If you have no apps installed other than the built in apps, have a 4 bar cellular signal, don’t receive any email or messages, don’t have any notifications enabled, and leave the phone with the screen locked it will lose between 10% and 15% of its battery capacity a day. But those conditions are rarely, if ever, true.

Here’s a guideline for what is normal: If you charge the phone overnight, every night with Optimized Charging enabled it should not need charging until the next night. If your iPhone meets this criterion it is working as designed.

It is so irresponsible and neglectful they don’t check their own updates on all iphones before releasing it to their users. It’s no different than them planting viruses in their own users phones - purposely. What kind of garbage is that?

Well, there are an internal teams that test all new releases, and when they finish it goes to roughly a million beta testers who routinely have 6 months to test major releases (such as iOS 18), and 1 to 2 months for each point release after a major release. So your claim that Apple doesn’t check their updates is nonsense.

Me too - sometimes it says I need to update and sometimes it shows that I’ve updated. This iOS is something that Steve Jobs would never have allowed out of Apple. I’m so sick of the issues with Apple I’m ready to get a burner phone. I’m so disgusted and no company - my carrier or Apple will take responsibility. I use a specific carrier and the app for it says I have metro which I don’t and never have. My phone is glitchy, languages and photos are glitchy and I haven’t been able to read an email in a week. No matter what I do and I’ve had every iPhone and tablet and computer they e ever made and I have never experienced something like this.

Mar 3, 2025 1:07 PM in response to DeborahClapham

I haven’t been able to get a single email in over 2 weeks. I’m so over this. I have done everything including spending hours on the phone with representatives. My photos app has a mind of its own. It actually has the ability to access my settings and change them so I’m constantly having to set a code for my settings which is useless. Somehow a voice in accessibility is being created and shared among devices but there are no devices connected to this new number. I have never been so disgusted with Apple. I’m not receiving calls, my provider now is trying to gain access to my home network, I’ve changed my password several times and it’s always saying it was done but it’s a junk email. There are little letters on the upper left hand side with little lines going around the initials. Then there’s always the fake emails with MS on the bottom which means someone or something is spoofing Apple. I have looked at my diagnostics and my root is being accessed on a daily basis. If I delete or offload an app it still shows notifications - what is going on with this update. Someone needs to be fired and Steve Jobs is rolling in his grave seeing what’s being released too soon. He never let these kinds of issues into the wild

Swift is a programming language used to write apps. Of course it is accessing data on your iPhone. But what are “root logs”? That is not a term that Apple uses, unless you have jailbroken your iPhone.

There is no point in looking through analytics; there is nothing you can learn from them without an iOS data dictionary, and that is only available to Apple employees working in development areas. And even they don’t actually look at logs; they process them with an app that generates a human readable report, because they don’t want to slog through thousands of lines of gibberish either.
