Migrating from WINDOWS TO MAC

I have recently bought a MAC computer (I also have an iphone and an ipad). I have two very different questions

QUESTION 1: All my files (and there are thousands) are in my old desktop computer and also in an external backup drive. When I connect the external drive with my MAC computer I can read individual files but when I try to copy all of them to the MAC computer I get a message "The operation can't be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50). How can I transfer all my files and folders to my MAC?????

QUESTION 2: My two main email accounts are yahoo and outlook. I have also a gmail account and an icloud account but I barely use them. How can I synchronize to make sure that all my calendars are up-to-date in all three devices. Right now I accept invitation from yahoo on my iphone -- they show in the apple calendar but not in the cloud calendar in the computer.

Thanks so much

MacBook Air 15″, macOS 15.3

Unfortunately, the Finder is not always the most reliable tool to use when copying that many files.

Apple has a tool to help with initial migration.

Transfer from PC to Mac with Migration Assistant - Apple Support

If you need to copy very large numbers of files later, I would suggest using Carbon Copy Cloner . (It can clone folders, as well as drives.). A similar application which might have the same feature is SuperDuper! .

You can connect an iPhone to several calendar sources. Likewise for a Mac. It sounds as though you have your iPhone set up to know about your Yahoo account, and calendars – but have not yet told your Mac about them.

Use your internet accounts on Mac - Apple Support

Once you connect your Yahoo calendars, you will see them show up in the Mac's Calendar application, but they won't show up as iCloud calendars (calendars stored in iCloud). They will show up alongside the iCloud ones.

When you initially set up your new Mac, it will offer to populate its content from your Windows PC. Do that. It ought to migrate all your files, email accounts... basically everything that can be transferred will be transferred.

iMac - Mac Does That - Apple answers many common questions. If you need more help, Apple Support will be glad to walk you through the steps. They will send you an email offering that service but if you didn't get it start here: Official Apple Support

Enjoy your new Mac!
