Issues on my iPhone 12 Pro after updating to iOS 18.3.1

Since completing the update I cannot control downtime for my children's phones through Family in settings, it just freezes. I have figured out a workaround, but it is very annoying. Apple TV app won't even load, just goes to a white screen and freezes. Settings takes forever come up and trying to do anything takes a long time with lagging. And all the while the battery is getting HOT when it never did that before. I have restarted my phone multiple times and have checked for updates for the apps not working, including Apple TV, I have done all the trouble-shooting things and nothings fixes the issues. When is Apple going to fix the multiple problems this update has caused? I have noticed that I am not the only one having issues, this is VERY FRUSTRATING.

Then you may have to consider wiping and restoring from your backup.

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support

or

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings using a computer - Apple Support

The iOS 18.3.1 update itself is likely not cause of your issues as tens of millions of users have updated without any problems. Unfortunately in life sometimes things go off the rails for no reason. There may have been an existing glitch on your iPhone that caused the update to go south.

If you are not comfortable with restoring your device by yourself you could contact Apple Support or take the phone to an Apple Store or authorized Apple service provider for assistance.

So the phone in context is my 4 year old IPhone 12. After updating it to iOS update 18.3.1 the phone has stopped charging when connected through brick and lightening cable. Initially I thought it might be an issue with a loose or damaged cable but that doesn’t seem to be the issue as the same cable and brick is working just fine for my wife’s iPhone 14. However the phone can still be charged using wireless charger.

Anyone else facing the same issue?

All of a sudden, none of my charging cords are working. This is not my outlet. This is not my cord. This is not my USB being dirty. It’s not my phone being dirty. It’s people working at Apple that don’t have their act together, constantly changing things without asking. This needs to stop you need to do an update so I can charge my freaking phone. This is outrageous.!

There seemingly hasn’t been an unusual number of charging-related issues getting reported.

Force-restart, and check again: Force restart iPhone - Apple Support — continue to hold the third press until the Apple logo appears, past any sliders that might appear.

Then follow this sequence: If your iPhone or iPod touch won't charge - Apple Support

And though you indicate none, I’d look for any cruft lodged in the charging port, too. Use a light, maybe a magnifying lens, and a wooden toothpick or plastic pick, and careful remove any debris in the socket.

Or it’s a problem with the iPhone charging port or charging hardware. Contact Apple Support.

Since my iPhone 15 Pro was updated to 18.3.1, my iPhone has been awful! I lost many contacts, the screen is freezing up, the touch response is lagging or non-responsive on random screens, and the battery drains quickly and feels warmer than usual. I had never had to charge my phone in the middle of the day until this update ruined my phone. I am too busy to deal with this crap. I have spent hours yesterday and today troubleshooting the issues and am getting frustrated. Do I need to go to the store to get a new phone? It was working GREAT before this update... PLEASE FIX this CRAP! It's like your update gave my iPhone a virus...

My cellular company tried everything to get my calls from dropping. My calls either drop or the person I am talking to starts not being able to hear me. I can hear them, but they can’t hear me. Soon after it does that, the call will drop. My phone as far as using it to talk to someone is useless right now. Apple needs to get this corrected now. Who wants a phone that they cannot place a phone call on. So frustrating. Paying for service, but can’t use it.

1123- ~ 82% is close to Apple's recommended level of 80% for having the battery replaced. And that weak battery is probably the reason your iPhone 11 cannot maintain a connection with cell tower signals. So...

My electronic identification is ruined, I can't log on to my bank accounts. The system suggested I reloaded the app from the App Store but IOS-18.3.1 wouldn't allow me to logon to the App Store. First you get whacked on your head and then you get kicked in the butt. I hope the apple support people are working around the clock to fix this. It's the first time I've experienced such a major glitch from Apple and I've been an Apple user for 40 years. // gsf

Finally yesterday evening 2025-03-19 at 22:30 EU time the IOS v. 18.3.2 became available and my and my wife's iPhone 16 and iPad Pro 11 were updated to IOS 18.3.2. I immediately checked, my electronic ID as well as access to bank accounts etc. seems to be working again. Apple please don't give us such "electro chock" with the future upgrades.

Sincerely gsf1
