Selling a Damaged MacBook

I have a MacBook Pro 2019 that I've used religiously throughout the years. Today I opened it up and was heartbroken to see a small crack on the bottom of the physical screen as well as damage to the display. It is still slightly usable, however Im worried that if I keep using it, I will damage it further. Can I trade my MacBook Pro in and use that credit towards a new laptop? Furthermore, can I also back up my files at the Apple store as I do not own a time capsule machine?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.7

It scares me that you don't seem to have an actual backup of your data. There are a lot more new ways to permanently lose access to the data stored on the internal SSD of the recent Macs due to all the hardware, software, and security changes.

People should always have frequent and regular backups of their computer and all external media (including the cloud) which contains important & unique data. Apple provides Time Machine backup software for free with macOS...all a user needs to do is purchase an external drive & configure Time Machine to use it.
