Touch Bar on a Macbook Pro (16", 2019) takes control, goes crazy.

Has anyone else experienced the Touch Bar on a Macbook Pro (16", 2019) going crazy?

Mine just started adjusting the brightness on its own, along with turning the volume on and off and controlling music.(including opening the app). At a very rapid rate.

This then progressed to opening up random apps. and doing random things within the open apps.

It's totally random, when It will decide to go nutty.

I took it to the Genius Bar, and everything of course worked perfectly that afternoon. But they tested everything etc. and came back clean.

Is it just possible to disconnect the Touchbar totally from the motherboard?

Would this solve the issue.

As the cost for replacement is ridiculous.

Thanks

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 15.3

No you can not "disconnect the Touchbar totally from the motherboard? "

On the intel Mac you can try both:

Try resetting the System Management Controller Reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

Even though SMC controls the touchbar, the T2 Controller is responsible for TouchID as well, so some USB is in play,

this would be NVRAM (or reboot.) notice:

USB Device: Apple T2 Bus

USB Device: Touch Bar Backlight

USB Device: Touch Bar Display

USB Device: Apple T2 Controller

No resolve—

run the user Diagnostic...not as definitive as Apple's own AST2 (Apple Service Toolkit) back bench diagnostic, but may kick out an error code.

Yeah the Apple tech. ran all the Diagnostics on it, when I took it in.
And everything came back fine.

I guess I try and live with in spurts now, when It does want to run.

hello—

Obviously everything is not fine. It seems a poor report if they did nothing for you.

Did the above recommended resets sort it ( you did not speak to the results there...) ?

At the least you can re-install the macOS on top of the existing macOS for a refreshed copy of the OS

no resolve—

Then I would try the Revive firmware feature, if still no resolve do the Restore.

The restore will wipe all data — so verify you have a full backups.
