How do I adjust AirPods 4 volume for low battery notification, magnetic compatibility with Apple Watch charger, and EQ settings?

I am considering purchasing the AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation for my iPhone 12 Pro Max, but I have a few questions:

1. Is it possible to reduce the tone volume on the AirPods 4 so that the low battery notification sound is not excessively loud, particularly when wearing them while sleeping?

2. Can the AirPods 4 magnetically attach to and be held in place by an Apple Watch charger, or do they lack magnetic attachment?

3. I have found that AirPods tend to have too little bass and an excess of treble. I have read that it may be possible to adjust the equalizer (EQ) settings of the AirPods 4 through Accessibility settings. Can you confirm whether this is true?

Hello FilipOfficial,

1. Yes, it is possible to lower the AirPods 4 low battery notification volume. Just turn down the Tone Volume in Accessibility: Adjust the volume of sound effects for AirPods - Apple Support.

2. The case for the AirPods 4 (specifically with Noise Cancellation) does not magnetically attach to the charging platform (no MagSafe), but it will charge and is compatible with Qi-certified chargers: AirPods 4 - Technical Specifications - Apple.

3. Yes, there are ways to adjust your AirPods 4 EQ. If you're just using Apple Music, you can adjust the EQ to a preset in Settings on iPhone (Apps -> Music -> EQ), otherwise you can follow these tips here: Customize headphone audio levels on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support.

Hello FilipOfficial,

1 - Right. It should be almost indistinguishable at that volume, though.

2 - I also watched this MKBHD video. Around 2:57, he places the AirPods 3 on the MagSafe and they stick, but not the AirPods 4. After a review, I do notice that the AirPods stick to the Apple Watch charger around 3:40 as you mentioned (that's great!).

3 - Correct. As you can see in this attached chart, the AirPods 4 support this Headphone Accommodation feature too. The "Customize Transparency Mode on your AirPods Pro" is noted as applying to the AirPods 4 as well (although that's a different feature). I tried the Custom Audio Setup, and basically I was listening to a series of tunes and deciding which option I liked best over the course of several steps. Then, I would toggle on Headphone Accommodations to apply it.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Hello DesignPro22,

Thank you for your reply. Let me reply to your answers:

1 - Sounds great, even though it's too bad the low battery notification sound can only be lowered to 15%. Still, hopefully that won't wake me up.

2 - I know the case for the AirPods 4 doesn't magnetically attach to MagSafe, but from the Marques Brownlee AirPods 4 Review video, 3:40 into the video it seems like the AirPods 4 does magnetically attach to Apple Watch chargers, correct? So it's still magnetic to Apple Watch chargers?

3 - On the AirPods 4, can you go into Settings > Accessibility > AirPods > Audio Accessibility Settings > Headphone Accommodations > Custom Audio Setup > Add audiogram to create a custom EQ? You can do this on the AirPods Pros, but can you do it on the AirPods 4?

Thank you.
