How do I fix the disappearing contact card issue in Apple's Contacts app on multiple MacBook models?

For the past few years I have had issues with Apple's Contacts app. I have had the same issue whether using my 2011 13 inch, 2012 15 inch or 2020 16 inch M1 Pro.

While adding a new contact the contact card will just disappear. I will search for the card I was busy with but it would not have saved anywhere.

The only way to add a contact then is to add it via my phone which takes a long time, if I go to a business networking meeting and have to add 30 new contacts this then becomes really time consuming and irritating.

Or I need to + new contact / add name / save / reopen that card / edit / add surname / save / and so forth and so on.

Imagine how **** frustrating that is.

Any suggestions? Is this a known bug?
