Iphone needs to cool down before you can use it

Hello Apple community, I have a problem that I don't understand and I don't know what to do. I was at an aquapark the other day and I took my phone in the water. And after a few hours it gave me the message "iPhone needs to cool down before you can use it" the phone is cold and this message doesn't go away and I can't use the phone in any way. What could I do or what could be wrong with it?

iPhone 13, iOS 18

It doesn’t matter if the only symptom of the iPhone dunking is an iPhone that randomly plays Beethoven’s Für Elise, it’s a dunked iPhone, and dunked iPhones can have problems, and Apple won't service a dunked iPhone that’s having problems.

You can try drying the iPhone as uggested by Apple (not using rice!), but otherwise you’re quite possibly headed for a newer or new iPhone.

The key word there is resistant. iPhones are not dive watches, or underwater cameras. They are not waterproof.

And those tests are done with a brand new phone (with the best possible working seals), slowly placed flat into a tank of purified water that has no wave motion. Hardly real world conditions.

The warranty plainly states liquid damage is not covered:

Maybe this will help clarify things.

Have you ever owned or worn a watch or known someone who has? Perhaps you've seen the guides that come with many watches indicating what level of water resistance is suitable for different activities.

You will notice in the chart below that anything with less than 50 Meters of water resistance is NOT suitable for swimming.

The same applies to the iPhone as they use the same certification process.
