I use macOS for desktop and android for mobile. I have an AppleID. How can I make sure that if someone on iOS tries to message me that it doesn't just go to my desktop Messages app?
This had happened and I can't risk having it happen again. I need to receive messages from people on iOS as an sms message to my android number.
I don't have an iOS device and never have.

Preventing Messages from Going to your Mac:
Disable Messages in iCloud Settings on your Mac, and it will not go through at all.

"Enable Messages in iCloud" is already disabled in Messages 14.0 on our Sonoma system.
And Messages is not shown in the iCloud section of System Settings.
