Personal Hotspot stopped working on iPhone 13 after iOS 18.4 update

I updated my iPhone 13 to iOS 18.4 yesterday, and since then, my Personal Hotspot has stopped working. My MacBook connects to it, but there is no network—no internet access at all, despite being connected. However, internet access on my iPhone itself works without any issues.

I have already followed the troubleshooting steps from Apple Support, including resetting my network settings, but the problem persists.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? If you’ve found a solution, please let me know. Thank you!

I reached out to Apple Support, and they helped me solve the problem!

There are similar cases with other users where this issue appears after an update. Apple Support provided hotspot configuration recommendations based on my phone carrier. We basically changed just one word in the settings, and it worked!

From what I understood, there isn’t a single fix for everyone—it depends on your carrier. So, I recommend calling Apple Support, and they should be able to help. It only took me 5 minutes to fix mine. Hope you can get it working on your phones too!

I have updated my 14PM with no issues, right after 18.4 was released; as usual, I gave it a week before updating the 15PM. When it was restarting to install te update, I got this message about an issue with the SIM card. See attached screenshots. Carrier even sent me an eSIM QRCode but I got the same message which leads me to believe there's something wrong wit the cellular hardware and/or firmware.

Things have escalated and I have new information to add: the very same thing happened three more times. When I updated my IP15PM to 18.4, my IP14PM to 18.4.1 and again the IP15PM to 18.5. ALL updates were done from my MacBook Pro 2019 (last Intel before M1) running Sequoia 18.4/18.5. This leads me to believe there's something rotten inside my Mac.

What could it be? How can I trace/debug/get evidence of it?

The last event was interesting because I had my wife as a witness and I told her what would happen (lose cellular) and it did. So, it's even reproducible, but Apple support won't even look into it.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
