Apple maps consumes massive amount of mobile data/data volume
Hi community,
since two days, my iPhone 15 Pro consumes an unusual amount of mobile data. Usually I'm completely fine with 5GB data volume, only using maybe 50% of it during a month. Current iOS version 17.6.1.
I've turned the iPhone off and on again. I had deactivated the iCloud drive and iCloud back-up settings to make sure I'm not using mobile data and to make sure the high data consumption is not driven by these services.
After resetting the data consumption statistics and noticing again a very high data consumption without using the phone but also not having a WiFi connection, it looks like Apple Maps is all of a sudden consuming more than 2GB (again not using the app at this point in time).
I haven't changed any settings for Apple Maps so it always has been set with "background updates" being activated and this was never an issue. Location service is set to only be used when using the app.
Any idea or experience with the same issue and how to fix it?
PS: next step will be to update the iOS but still I'm trying to figure out why it is consuming all my mobile data ...
Thanks!
