Why Maps application is consuming lot of storage on my iPhone 16 Pro?

Maps application is consuming lot of storage. Currently at 12GB and increasing.

This is on IPhone 16 Pro.

I have tried to delete the app, restart my phone, and offload the app. I also made sure there was no offline maps or data downloaded. I also turned it off in my Apple ICloud storage settings. Even when the app is uninstalled it continues to take up more space. I need to update my phone which will hopefully fix the issue. However, it’s really hard to do that when every time I make space, apple maps takes that space so quickly. Any solutions please? I don’t want to back up and reset my phone.

Apple Mapps takes up too much storage My apple maps is taking up an obscene amount of storage (73.93 GB). Literally do not understand how since I’ve had downloaded maps i had before deleted for quite some time now. I’ve tried offloading the app and deleting it all together but nothing changes. I saw the only temporary fix is to reset your phone and not use back up but that seems so extreme. Anyone else with the problem?

Have you downloaded any maps for offline use? If so, you can delete the downloaded maps.
