How do I stop rapid backspacing on iPhone 16 Pro Max running iOS 18.4.1?

Lately, on average, as much as twice a week when typing a body of text on any one of a few AI assisted keyboard apps installed on a 16 Pro Max running iOS 18.4.1,  the cursor suddenly begins backspacing rapidly on its own deleting scores of belabored texting endeavors while reacting too slowly to shake out an undo typing before it's gone. This seems to occur after tapping the text once to reposition the cursor and insert, remove, select, cut, copy, paste, format, or initiate any action that alters the text. After a little digging around online and a few tweaks in the Keyboard and Touch control settings, there seems to be a modest improvement with how the touch screen is responding, but the issue still persists. Anyone have any ideas how to remedy this ghostly issue?
