As lobsterghost1 correctly states, your iPhone was refurbished by someone other than Apple. All new iPhone 16 Pro Max should still have their 1 Year Limited Manufacturers Warranty as they started selling in September of 2024. If you believed you were purchasing a new iPhone, return it for a refund. Then purchase one from Apple or one of their Authorized Resellers.
