After installing ios 18.6 small gaps in audio every 10 seconds or so and other issues

iPhone 16 Pro Max and 2021 Cayenne, Carplay wired or wireless had no issues until immediately after installing iOS 18.6. Then audio streaming or from my downloaded iTunes library started having small (about 1 second) gaps around every 10 seconds, but at irregular intervals, not exactly every 10 seconds.

Also some phone calls had incoming (but not outgoing) audio behaving like it was compressed so that I'd be hearing the calling party say something then a subsequent phrase would overlap the end - the overlapping sections of audio were only a couple of seconds long in total with the overlap less than a second.

I've come across things like the phone audio where QOS settings were wrong, but that was over a decade ago with a much lower tech comms link than 5G cellular and current bluetooth.

Any thoughts on what is going on or corrective action that I could take?

I'm going to try this on our other vehicle, but I guess if it happened to me, it will be happening to someone else, so hopefully Apple trawl this for issues to consider for the next point update.

This is a user to user only forum, so Apple won't see your comment here. You can tell Apple you're having this issue through this link --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple

Persoanally, I can tell you I'm not having any issue with CarPlay after updating to iOS 18.6 in either of our cars, with an iPhone 16 Pro and a 16 Pro Max. CarPlay issues are often difficult to determine where the issue lies. It can be your car infotainment system needs an update from the manufacturer. You may find unpairing your iPhone from your car, then setting it up again may solve the issue. And after EVERY iOS update, I immediately Force Restart my iPhone and I never have any issues from an update. At a minimum, try this procedure and remember to do this after you update your iPhone --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

You're welcome. No, Apple doesn't crape the forum. And so far, you're the first person I've seen post this issue, so it's certainly not common among people who have updated their iPhone to iOS 18.6.

Instead of waiting for someone else to see this and "maybe" chime in, I encourage you to do the things I recommended. You can wait and do nothing too, I suppose.
