Troubleshooting an Overheating iPhone:
When did this all begin? Was it after installing an update? If so, it might be a bug in the update. Are there pending items? If so, process are likely taken up. Is there any bulging on the iPhone's cover? If so, the battery may be corroding, in which case it has become a health hazard. So, get this serviced.
Did you Transfer Data?:
There are likely too many processes taking place. So, power off the phone, to let it cool, and then try clearing space. Have you recently filled you iPhone storage? Having low available storage can most certainly case overheating.
Perform the following:
I. Cool Down the iPhone:
For a few hours, perform the following...
- Power Off: the iPhone for a bit
- Unplug: any Cables
- Place it Atop: a Laptop Cooler
- Keep it in: an open space
- Keep it Out of: direct sunlight

2. Clear Space Using my User Tips:
See if you need to clear lots of space. System resources may be using up too much services, making it overheat. Internal storage cannot be upgraded. It is what it is. I am wondering if it is a corrosive battery. Do you see any lumps on the iPhone? If so, it is corroding, and that makes this a health hazard. So, if corrosion is occurring, you should get this serviced, ASAP. Set up a Genius Bar Appointment at your local Apple Store.
