Touch ID not working to wake MacBook Pro after macOS 26 update
I have a 2019 MacBook Pro (Intel) that I just upgraded to OS 26 Tahoe and on which I can no longer use Touch ID to wake from sleep. Once awake however it works perfectly to log in to any website or program that is set up with passkeys. This only started once I upgraded. There have also been times when I come back an hour or more after the computer goes to sleep that I open the lid and for a brief moment, maybe a second or two, where I can see and read the screen perfectly fine only for it to go black and ask me to use Touch ID or type password. Even then, the Touch ID does not work. The button in the upper right of the keyboard simply is not functioning. I've wiped it, cleaned it and even re-washed my hands but nothing works. Even after these bizarre times it works perfectly to log in to various sites that take my fingerprint as a passkey. Works perfectly to log in to a website but no longer for waking my computer up from sleep. Anyone else have this happen? Apple, are you watching this? What is going on?
