IOS 26 update: iPhone 15 SIM locked overnight after charging

Happened to me aswell on a 14 PRO. 6 times during charging overnight. In the analytic logs I found on the same dates "SystemMemoryReset". But now after updating to 26.0.1 it's been fine. And no "SystemMemoryReset" in the logs.

Under settings try turning off "require SIM pin".

• Did you enable the SIM PIN?
• Do you have Automatic Updates turned on?
• Did your phone update with iOS 26.0.1 that was just released?

The SIM PIN is required when the phone restarts, which would be the case after an update. Not sure of the reason or pattern for the 3 times you mentioned.

While it is not documented as a feature to lock the PIN after a certain amount of time, it also is not a bad idea for those looking for SIM protections. Otherwise you would only be protected when a thief has restarted your phone, and at that point they would still have to know the Passcode to the device, which may be redundant.

For security, why not have it require the SIM PIN after a certain amount of time, instead of only on restart or if you have a physical SIM, when it is removed. That to me would seem more secure and one that would be embraced. I'm not sure if this is intentional or a bug, but it certainly does not sound like a bad idea for those who feel the need to enable SIM PIN protections.

I really never used it and think it is overkill.

I found this thread wondering if I was the only one waking up to a sim unlock message - apparently I am not. For me it happened three times by now, no pattern found yet.

I have an iPhone 14 ProMax with iOS 26.0.1 and the SIM locked every night. Never had that problem. So Apple please fix this.

I also have an iPhone 14 Pro Max with iOS 26.0.1 and have been experiencing this issue since the update.
