Updated to Tahoe (macOS 26) and now printers do not print

Adobe acrobat does not print under Tahoe (16.2 now, no improvement). Preview prints fine. Adobe is reliably awful. Reinstalling after 16.1 worked. Now re-installing after 16.2. HEY ADOBE, I KNOW YOU ARE TERRIBLE AT TESTING SOFTWARE -- LET US KNOW IF WE WILL HAVE TO REINSTALL AFTER EVERY OS UPGRADE FOR THE REST OF TIME.

I completed the macOS 26.1 Tahoe update last night. Today I attempted to print a document using my Canon MG3600 printer. It failed to print. I restarted the printer and reconnected to it on my MacBook. The printer still failed to print. I reset the print service. I also tested the various CLI recommendations I found here and on Reddit. Still nothing. I successfully printed from a separate Linux desktop. It’s definitely the MacBook.

My previous MacBook experienced a complete loss of battery life upon updating to macOS Sonoma a couple of years ago. It would not otherwise have been at end of life.

These two issues have undermined my confidence in macOS and might influence my willingness to purchase another MacBook in the future.

For me, it turned out to be only an issue with Adobe acrobat reader. Of course, they are well known for their terrible bugs and awful testing pre-release. I opened a PDF in preview and it printed fine! So I reinstalled Adobe reader and that appears to have fixed the problem. Sorry that doesn't help you, good luck finding a solution. I'm not sure I blame apple. The problem is they still have small market share compared to Microsoft. So even though vendors like Adobe have many months to test their products before major releases of macOS, I think it's just not a priority for them.

of course, the best example of this is Microsoft Office on macOS. An absolute joke.

My printer wasn't working only in Word; I could print in Adobe, in Excel, in email, etc. My Word was only partially working in other areas too: I couldn't adjust margins, etc. No issues with other Microsoft applications. But an update seems to have been done in Word just in the last few days from 16.103.1 to 16.103.2, and that has resolved it. Thank goodness.

Exactly the same issue with a new install of Tahoe 26.2, connecting to an HP 6000 series. I have restarted both devices, unistalled and reinstalled the printer, updated Office, and done everything in the threads below short of re-installing Tahoe again. Nothing works. This is SUCH BS. Wish I'd never upgraded.

I updated to Tahoe this morning (MBP w/ M4). Printing from Keynote fails more often than not (Epson ET-16600). When Keynote hangs up, the Print dialog box is present but the "Cancel" button has no effect. I have to "Force Quit" Keynote, losing any changes to the file. I have sent the error reports to Apple.

I did not have these issues with Sequoia.

Brand new MacBook Pro.

recognizes Brother HL-2140 series printer.

But it needs a driver. Need a workaround.

All previous MacBooks and Mac Pros just automatically worked, no driver needed.

Brother isn't supporting an updated driver. Any suggestions that haven't already been said.

Really like this printer, but if I have to rebuy, I guarantee ya I'll not be getting a brother after this nonsense.

FYI, you should not be hijacking another users thread since your printer issue is caused by a different issue than the OP's here.

Your Brother printer has not been supported on macOS since macOS 10.15 Catalina when Brother stopped providing printer drivers for it about 7 years ago. Your printer is over 20 years old and is not AirPrint compatible so there is no support for it. If you started your own thread, then someone may have provided instructions for possibly using a Raspberry Pi to act as a print server, but that is beyond what should be discussed here on this thread for another user's problem.

That problem didn't occur after a new update. After Tahoe 2 I may not have attempted a scan. I don't pay attention to the actual dates I get the information an install is going to. happen. However, I am sure the screenshot issue happened after Tahoe3.

I have the same problem now after updated to Tahoe and did all the recommendations above but still printing paused and file just could not release to the printer. Deleted the printer from (Printers & Scanners), add back and the printing pause remain.

Same here. Just updated to 26.2 and both of my Canon Multi-function printer/scanners are printing just fine, but neither of them are scanning. The new "Image Capture" default Mac app that gets pulled up when I hit "Open Scanner" gives the error (message 600104) No computer connected; check connections, make sure the printer is turned on, blah blah blah. They're on - and both print. So obviously connected. I downloaded the latest drivers/software for both "Canon MF Printer Utilities" and "Canon MF Scanner Utilities" and installed. I opened up the Can MF Scan Utility and it had already recognized in the Scanner: field "MF650C Series USB" so I thought it would be good to go, but no - got the basically the same error message: "Cannot communicate with any of the scanners. The scanners may not be connected, or may be turned off." Help please.

Tried this. Deleted the log. Went back and re-added both Canon multi-function printers.

Both printers still work. Both scanners still "not found".

WOW!!! So last week, everything was moved to the Cloud. We used a different user name but the email is the same. Today, someone else was available when I tried to check in regarding a text message I was supposed to get saying they were ready to reinstall. When finished, we had to get rid of the old name because it would not screenshot. However, we saved a copy. Then, after all was said and done, I went to my documents and downloads. Downloads are gone. I had someone else tell me how to get them back and she got the documents. I had a lot of downloads and some of the same documents which had additional pages added. The AS woman tried a hundred different ways to find them and they are no place??? Any ideas?

After a recent update to the Tahoe OS on my MacBook Air my printer disappeared. Spent almost two hours on the phone with an Apple support person in Texas- no result. Happened a few times before after automatic updates and took forever for apple to resolve. I have worked on an important project for over a week, which I need to print ASAP. What can I do?

I did everything listed here and elsewhere, as well as clean install, but I restored from a Time Machine backup. I am printing from a device that uses the built in CUPS system to print and THAT doesn't work. The problem is that Apple did not grant their own print system network access, and there is no app that launches that will show up in the Local Network pane.
