How do I recover missing voicemails on my iPhone after iOS 26 update

The following worked for me. I’m not sure if both steps were needed. I had no voicemails showing and I use AT&T.

I turned on Airplane Mode for 10 secs, then turned it off. Waiting for cellular to reconnect.

I went to Phone app, Recents tab, clicked top-right “triangle lines” menu. Switched from Classic to Unified view, then back to Classic (which I prefer, either way try going back and forth from your current setting). Then all my voicemails reappeared.

In my case, when the vmails were missing, I didn’t even have a Deleted Messages folder, if that’s any indication.

Voicemail is stored on your carrier's servers, contact them for help.

AT&T were able to recover my wife’s voicemails. Have you tried your carrier?

Same issue here with 26.0.1. All voicemails missing.

I power cycled the iPhone. After logging back in the voicemails were still missing. However, about 5 minutes later they ALL appeared again.

When you tap on Share, you can save them to the Files app as an audio file, just change the name to something that describes the message, or you can tap on Voice Memo as indicated in the above link, and again, change the same you save it as. And as indicated in Jeff Donald's response check with your carrier. They can also delete your voicemail, so if you ever have something you find important to save, always use this method to archive the voicemail.

That’s interesting because I just spoke with AT&T about my wife’s VM and the customer support person said they were stored on AT&T’s cloud servers and opened a support ticket on the issue. My understanding is AT&T has always stored the VMs. I’m not sure about other carriers.

I tried to reach out to ATT and was told that they don’t keep visual voicemails on their servers. They asked if I had their cloud backup services. If I had that it would be a possibility that my VM’s would still be there. Unfortunately I do not sub to ATT cloud service because I use Apple iCloud backup.

Same issue here. Over half my saved voicemails are now missing once I updated to 26.01. I have noticed the remaining voicemails show up as duplicates at times. I called ATT and they informed me that visual voicemails are stored on the phones and it’s an Apple issue.

I lost them too! Called my carrier and they said since the voicemails were from years ago prior to being with that carrier it would be an Apple problem. Had a voicemail from my grandma and some close dead relatives and they are gone and my voicemail screen flashes.

Did you guys find a solution to this? I’m in the same boat… my phone has a ton of new blocked and deleted voicemails but I’m missing every single saved voicemail, the ones I intentionally kept safe. I’m so heartbroken.

same prob for me but I am on Verizon. I have contacted the carrier for help but this seems like an apple issue. I have deleted vm's back to 2020 but the two saved voicemails that have recently been deleted are not showing in my deleted folder.

Got a new phone all voicemails were there. Had them for years since my Dad died in 2020. Now new update happened and all voicemails from

2019 and up are gone. Why? I have from 2017, 2016 and 2018 and now they want to delete more current ones? I had voicemails of my Dad from that time. He is gone and I think Apple should do better before deleting people’s stuff!

I too am missing voicemails after 26 update. Saved love ones voices were very important to me. Not in my deleted ones. Wonder why it took away my saved ones and left a slew of blocked ones??😢

Same. Duplicates and my vm’s come and go!! So annoying!

I am devasted. I too lost my saved VMs from my late hubby. Please Apple help us restore the precious voice memories. 😢😭
