Focus can’t be turned off on my iPhone

I have an iPhone 16 pro. I have read the post about how to turn it off. I can’t do anything that is suggested.

i woke up this morning before my alarm went off and I was doom scrolling and saw my alarm pop up onto the screen.

But there was no sound!!!

So I went to settings to see if focus was turned on by mistake. (I never use focus so it would have been a mistake).

focus was turned as it should be.

just out of curiosity I turned it on.

I should have known better. Now I can’t find any way to turn it off. I touch the same “button “ that now says on and it won’t respond. I’ve been through all the settings possible and I can’t find anything to help. I even turned the phone off and let it sit for a moment. That didn’t help either.

So now I have 2 problems. One that my alarm makes no sound and

2 I can’t turn focus off.

Please help.

Silent Mode and Focuses don't affect alarms, they still play normally. Firstly your iPhone has a feature called Attention Awareness which automatically checks to see if you're looking at your iPhone and if so automatically perform certain actions such as silencing alarms. You can choose to turn that off in Settings > Face ID and Passcode > Attention Awareness Features.

Secondly try asking Siri to turn off the Focus. Also go to Settings > Focus > [focus name] > Scroll down to see if there are any schedules setup. Make sure to delete any, and some people reportedly have tried setting a schedule for 1 minute ahead so when it's up it should automatically turn the Focus off.

Re: (1) alarm makes no sound

Seems there may have been a focus set by mistake, (ie: you then had difficulty in turning it off in Settings, after turning it on.) Could it have already been on accidentally, (eg: turned on in Control Centre).

Else: Maybe the alarm volume is set so low you can not hear it ?:

The reply given in this thread may help: iPhone Alarm not making any sound - Apple Community

Eg: says:

"Go to: Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Ringtone & Alerts

and move the slider to the right. This is the only way to control the alarm volume.

Also try:

Set a test alarm a few minutes in the future. Then, when it goes off, use the side volume buttons to adjust the sound volume while it's actually ringing."

If needed, see: How to turn Do Not Disturb on or off on your iPhone - Apple Support

Eg: says:

  1. "Swipe down from the top of your Home Screen to open Control Center.
  2. Tap the Focus button where the Do Not Disturb crescent moon appears.

If there is no moon icon, Do Not Disturb is currently turned off.

3. Tap Do Not Disturb to turn the feature on or off.

You can also ask Siri to turn Do Not Disturb on or off."
