Sounds like hardware. Try this:

You need to Back up the phone

Erase all content & settings

set up the phone manually with no backup restored, see if it still happens

if yes then it needs repairing. Erase it again and send it to Apple or Apple store.

When you get it back set up the phone again, restoring the backup.

there is some risk so ensure you learn how to perform this.

I have the same issue with iPhone 13 Pro Max. It isn’t a hardware issue. I just had my phone replaced. It’s this version of iOS. It started back when the Beta first came out. As I recall, it is a known issue that has not been fixed for older model devices. This software DEMANDS the latest hardware to run efficiently as expected. It’s too bloated for these older iPhones. Apple products have always been bad at forcing device upgrades through increasingly more demanding & bloated software.

Can confirm my experience on 26: bug and not a hardware issue. 26.1 completely bricked my iPad Pro M1 12.9” which is nowhere near end of life and has been kept in excellent condition inside a Magic Keyboard. Immediately after auto-installing 26.1 my touchscreen failed. All attempts to fix thru hard restarts and DFU update/restores have failed. Apple needs to remedy this problem and make their customers whole.

@LD150, your reply based on assumption. You assume all iphone 11 have screen hardware issue. Can you tell us why we do not have this issue before upgrading to IOS 26. Plz, lets your technical team to dig hard on this to fix it instead force us to change our device. Other ways, allow us to down grade to earlier IOS.

I have the M1 iPad Pro 12.9" that's nowhere near end of life, and it's totally bricked after 26.1 auto-install. Pristine condition in Magic Keyboard never dropped or damaged. Woke up in the morning to an unresponsive touchscreen and all fixes have failed. Folks, you are not alone and this is not acceptable.

Apple needs to remedy this problem and make their customers whole. In California there are two consumer protection laws that require Apple to provide remedies or replacements regardless of the status of one’s initial/express warranty or AppleCare. Meaning they are legally obligated to compensate if they can’t fix this.

You'll have to take that up with Apple. I've never heard of any state law in the US, which requires any seller of electronics to fix a device regardless of whether it is within warranty or not. And I updated my iPad Pro M1 to iOS 26.1 and have suffered no issues at all. So your assertion iOS 26.1 is what caused your issue is nothing more than a guess on your part and likely coincidence. There's no point in arguing it here, however. This is a user to user only forum. No one here works for or is associated with Apple in any way.
