iPhone 17 Pro Max always warm to the touch

My new, one week old, iPhone 17 Pro Max is almost always warm to the touch, even when it has been unused for a longer amount of time it feels warm when I pick it up.

I have the tech woven case and sometimes I can feel the heat through the case. I frequently put my index finger on the camera plateau to check the warmth and 95% of the times it is noticeable warm.

Is the phone really supposed to be like this or have a defect unit? I started the phone fresh, no transfer from older phone.

Looking for help and to hear from other users with this phone how your devices are regarding this.

Some warmth is normal especially if there’s background activity. The new design incorporates several features that are designed to migrate heat away from critical internal components to the outer shell and in the case, if using one.

You may want to check what apps are using your battery capacity and contributing to the excess heat.

Thanks for replying. I know about the new design and how it migrates heat, but should it feel warm almost all the time?

The week I have had the phone I have almost only used Safari, Facebook, Instagram, watching the odd YouTube video and organizing the Home Screen. I don’t do gaming. Safari have drained 4% today for example and that’s the app that has drained the battery the most.

To me none of these app seems to be a battery thief.

Is there another way than the regular battery settings to check what apps have drained the battery?
