"Block Caller" option is missing in iOS 26.0.1 on my iPhone SE

mac ios 26.0.1 se 2022 - I try to block a phone number from the recents screen; when I press the Info button, the next screen doesn't offer a Block Caller option. Somehow this option disappeared with the iOS update to 26 or 26.0.1, why.

Plus my battery life is now terrible even after turning off all the bells and whistles. What is up with that?

You can find help here:

Block Caller Missing:

Go to Settings > Phone > Blocked Contacts and add numbers here instead
Or check Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions - may be blocking the option
Report bug here: feedback.apple.com

Battery Drain:

Check Settings > Battery > Battery Health - if under 80%, needs replacement
Turn on Low Power Mode permanently
Background App Refresh - turn it off completely

If nothing works, contact Apple Support here or visit a Store.

As I mentioned above, a restart shows the Block Button on the call info screen, but only once. If you go back to Recents then press Info again that option doesn't show the second time.

Finally the correct answer - when you do this - hit home button and the whole page shows and you can block number. Thanks

Phone 'Recents' shows the phone number I want to block at the top of the list. When I select the Info icon next to the number a new screen comes up as Unknown plus the number, but scrolling down does not display a block contact option.

I have an iPhone 13 and just updated to IOS 26.0.1 and do not have this problem but a friend has an IPHONE SE and upgraded and does have this problem with being unable to block calls from the calls list view. Is this problem associated to specific models? And has Apple acknowledged the bug?

Jeff, Thanks for your response. I've been using the Apple product since the early 90's, I think my first machine was a Power Macintosh 6100. I've become accustomed to Apple's way of triage and I'm good with it.

The past process of blocking numbers was a very simple process and it would appear that a wait for Apple to deal with this SNAFU may be the only solution to the easy fix. If you refer to my prior post of Oct 10, 2025 11:42 AM in response to da klein I list the long form that can be used to "Block Caller". Allen Jones shows the same process graphically on his Oct 16, 2025 9:50 PM in response to da klein post. The long form is still an option to block unwanted callers. I hope that this helps.

I’m having the same issue with my IPhone 17 Pro Max. When I tap the info button next to the number I want to block, there is no block option. Is this a software/update issue? I just installed the newest update and that didn’t resolve the problem.

I wish I had some insight here. Since I did the 26.1 update I've forgotten to check if I was still having the same call block issue. I'll do the math next call that I get, I'll be sure to post, sorry.

I'm running iOS 26.1 on my SE 2022. I just assumed Apple would fix this issue with their 26.1 update, as their prior iOS 26 updates didn't do anything to correct the issue (we all know what happens when one ASSUMEs anything). Apple's iOS 26.1 didn't restore the easy "call block" option either. Hello, Earth to Apple, please address this issue sooner rather than later.

On opening

after 15 minutes while open

And after closing the contact and reopening it goes immediately back to the first short version

but they don't allow photos.

May also try beta FBA that does.

Yes, Mr Moss, I agree with you. I've been banging on this same issue since 09 Oct '25 with no satisfaction.

Prior to this iOS update et al, with this model phone and carrier: (SE 2022, Verizon network) I had the option to "Block Calls", but no more. Go figure.

I have since spoken to a EX programmer / Coder used to work for Apple.....interesting to say the least.

The whole idea of reducing Battery life & making life difficult from Apple for all of us is for the 'Customer' you & me to go out & purchase a NEW phone!! My ex Apple employee advises keep hammering Apple to change this ideology of many years to fix these problems. The Apple answer to this is is you have a phone that is 3-5 yrs old, they are NOT interested as per the complaints & answers on this platform. Im off to purchase a 'Samsung' ive had enough of being cast aside by 'outsourced' so called programmers that are paid about $20 an hour.

OK, I click on the Info button next to a call, and see very few options. Then I press Home and the Phone app disappears. I open it again and it still shows the Info screen, but now there is more on it - BUT, still no Block Caller button. What am I doing wrong?

This so frustrating that nothing is working to block calls. Apple go back to what worked, please! It was so simple to press the i then scroll down and click block. What happened???

Apple, this is very annoying to have updates that screw things up.
