Gmail App - No Notifications on iPhone 14 Max Pro iOS 26

I use the Gmail app on my iPhone, not the native Apple Mail app. I quit getting new email notifications to my watch and after much digging around with settings, I think I narrowed it down to the problem possibly being that my Gmail notifications aren't working at all on my phone. I have always had it set up to get a banner notification on my phone and my watch would buzz. Everything is enabled (see screenshot) but now I get nothing. I have toggled all sorts of things off and on. I went from notifications for "Primary Only" (which is all I really want) to "All Mail" just to see if that would make it work. It did not.

I've done all the usual troubleshooting -- updating iOS and running the latest version, updating Gmail app, checking setting after setting... I can't figure it out. It's like the Gmail notifications aren't communicating with the phone's settings. Could the problem be in the phone's notification settings, the Gmail app's notification settings? I suppose either, but I swear I've checked both many times over. Can anyone help? Really I miss these notifications going to my watch, but I want them to work on my phone of course, which I believe will resolve the watch problem which is set up to mirror my Gmail app's settings. This was all working until about 2 weeks ago, which is when I upgraded to iOS 26, but I'm not sure if the problem started right before or when I upgraded. I upgraded when my watch stopped notifying me of new email. I can't say if that's when they stopped working on my iPhone. Notifications of new email is very critical for me.
