Regarding batteries: don't overthink it. The phone will manage its battery usage just fine without any micromanagement. Turn on Settings>Battery>Power Mode>Adaptive and leave it. Don't leave your phone in really hot places.

Without knowing what other "creative features" you're interested in, that's kind of hard to give advice on.

My advice to anyone learning a new phone is to play with it. Go through all of the settings and see what the options are and try them out. Take a bunch of pictures using different settings to see what you like.
