text alerts on iPhone 11

I have have an iPhone 11 and I get text alerts ("ding") for everyone except 1 particular friend.

I do receive the text itself but never the alert. I believe she has an iPhone 8. What could be the issue?

Open your Messages App. See the message from this one contact and swipe from right to left on it. See the bell icon which has likely been turned to mute for this contact and tap it to unmute them.
