I have a free trial subscription i forgot to cancel. I tried to cancel it the same day the free trial ended but apple is still trying to charge me for it. and I'm now unable to downloaded any other apps until this is paid. i don't want to pay for something i don't need. How do i cancel this pending transaction ?

If you did not cancel in time then the trial becomes a paid subscription. At that stage your only recourse is to cancel the subscription and to ask for a refund. Refunds are not guaranteed but Apple may on occasion make an exception.

When you signed up for the free trial, on the Authorization screen you would have seen the message to avoid any subscription charges you should cancel a day before the trial ends. Cancelling on the same day is too late.
You can request a refund for a purchase, although refunds are not guaranteed. It is not possible to request a refund on a Pending charge, so it would need to be paid for first before you can request a refund. It is also not possible to cancel a Pending transaction.
