Apple Music automatically adds extra albums to Continue Playing

In Apple Music (1.6.1.44/ Tahoe26.1) whenever playing an album it automatically adds extra albums onto the continue playing list so they play after it has finished. I don't want this as it is not a playlist. Once the album I was listening to has finished then stop.

I don't mind clicking in an album and having the rest of that album playing, but I do not want other albums automatically adding afterwards. I have autoplay turned off, shuffle off, everthing I can find that to does the auto adding turned off.

Does anyone else get this issue, and if so have you found a way round it? All the autoplay and shuffle are turned off on my iPad and iPhone as well.

Turn Autoplay OFF inside the queue, not just globally

Do this:

  1. Start playing an album
  2. Open the Up Next queue
  3. Scroll to the very bottom
  4. Look for the infinity symbol ∞
  5. Turn it OFF (gray, not blue)

Even if it looks off already, toggle it ON → OFF again.

This resets the queue state for that session.

After some playing around it looks like Apple Music works this way:

  • Play an album by either clicking on the play button in the album art or ... and play and get just the album. Nothing added to the 'Continue Playing' list. Skipping tracks doesn't add to 'Continue playing' so all is correct.
  • Play a track from the album by clicking its play button and the rest of the album gets added (which is ok), along with pseudo random albums from my library (which is not).

I say pseudo because depending on the initial track/album the additional albums are the same ones (AI kicking in?).

I already have to do that. I don't close Apple Music down between selecting new albums so the session is still the same. Problem is that we shouldn't have to do that every time. I want an album to play and then stop. If I want more I'll add it to up next.

To me it looks more like a bug where the autoplay is ignoring the actual settings and adding regardless.
