Strange iMessage response from someone I did not text

This usually happens when another device signed into your Apple ID sends the message, or when someone replies to an older message bubble that still appears on their device. Check Settings → Your Name → Devices for any devices still signed into your Apple ID, then check Messages → Send & Receive to make sure only your current number and email are active. Changing your Apple ID password will sign out all unknown devices.
