Mail signatures not syncing from desktop to laptop

Mail signatures I create on my desktop do not show up on my laptop.

On my desktop: they are in all signatures, iCloud, and on my Mac in Settings. They show up in the signature menu when I create an email.

On my laptop: They are in All Signatures in settings, but not in iCloud or on my Mac. I can drag them to iCloud and on my Mac so it looks like they are there, but they don't show up in the signature menu when I create an email, and when I restart Mail they have disappeared from iCloud and on my Mac again.

I have tried turning off Sync this Mac on both computers, both with Mail running and when quit out of Mail, with no change.

Please tell me how to get these signatures on my laptop.

This is a pretty common Apple Mail iCloud sync issue. Even if signatures appear in All Signatures, they won’t work unless they’re correctly linked to the specific mail account, and iCloud sometimes removes them after restart.

A few things that usually help:

  • Make sure both Macs are signed into the same Apple ID and iCloud Mail is enabled
  • Quit Mail on both devices → re-enable Mail sync in iCloud → reopen Mail
  • Try creating one new test signature directly on the laptop and assign it to the account, then check if sync starts working

If you need the same signature across multiple devices reliably, some people generate the signature externally (for example with MySignature) and just paste it into each device, it avoids iCloud sync issues completely.
