CarPlay wireless connection and GPS issues
Carplay connection and gps issues
- Latest versions of car (2025 Forester Subaru) and phone software (ios 26.2)
- Wireless connection being used
Two issues:
- Upon startup, the car does not consistently connect to Carplay. It was worse before ios 26, but still fails I would say about 1/8 or so times. Simpy fails to connect so no Carplay. I have found a workaround - to delete the phone altogether and re-add it. This is a hassle, but at least there is a workaround. Would love to see this resolved so it reliably connects 100% of the time.
- When connected and using Apple Maps (have tested this with Google Maps as well and same issue happens), occassionally the gps "loses its mind" and it shows my current location way off where I'm at. I have seen mentions that in a wireless setup like I have, the gps being used is that of the car itself and not the map app. I have confirmed that I have the latest software from Subaru. Unclear if this is an Apple or Subaru issue, but it renders the map unusable. This "usually" auto corrects itself and the map gets me back on track (frequently only to do it again), but you could easily miss a turn when the map is in this confused state. Have found no solution/workaround for this - you just have to wait until it "finds its way" again.
Would appreciate any help on either/both of these Carplay issues.
Thanks.
