How do I stop Apple Music from creating song queues?

How do I turn off Apple Music queue in Tahoe? If I want to listen to a few albums in a row by a single artist, I used to be able to just play the first song on the first album and let iTunes play the albums chronologically until I told it to stop. Now, it creates some queue of the first album, then randomly selects a bunch of other stuff I don't want to hear. I don't want to create a playlist or manually set a queue each time I start my music, and I don't want Apple overriding my selections.

Thanks for the screenshot.

Clear the Cache and Recommend a GUI Change to Apple:

Note that as long as you don't finish playing the song to the end (and even if you were to forward track it, for that matter), it's still going to show in the queue. So, I'm not so certain you can rid of that pane, as it's party of the GUI (Graphical User Interface) --and that's where commending this change to Apple comes into play.

A. Clear the Cache:

Caches are created for applications so that they operate more efficiently and are more responsive, from remembrance of use (i.e. selection). So, clear it. *See the screenshot below.

  1. Click: Music menu
  2. Select: Settings
  3. Select: Advanced tab
  4. Click: Reset Cache button

B. Recommend this to Apple:

Do Your Part: Being not a feature of the Music app, recommend this to AppleApple won't get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know wha their customer prefer and what features to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of your ideas, if you don't' provide them, to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - Music - Apple
  2. Select: "Feature Request" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Select: "Playlist" for the "What Apple Music feature is your feedback about?"
  4. Comment: that you want this to be an option, and why. Include the link to this thread.
  5. Proceed from there as necessary

How do I stop Apple Music from creating song queues?: Thank you, but that's part of the problem. It's not on, but the Continue Playing Queue gets created regardless. If I clear it out, the Music app quits playing once the current song is over. If I click the next song in my list (viewing Songs organized by Album Artist/Year), a bunch of randomly selected songs get dumped right back into the queue

You are welcome.

Thanks for the followup reply.

Turn Off AutoMix:

First off, you care getting this because you have a subscription to Apple Music, and that is a device that can be turned off.

Still happening, unfortunately. I had AutoMix off in the Music App.

I tried turning it on to switch the Transition Style to CrossFade and then turning it off again, but the Transition Style reverts to AutoMix as above...which I guess shouldn't matter since it's not active. I also have it shut off in the Music app on my iPhone.

It may be worth noting that although I am sharing the Listenting History between Music on the iPhone and the iMac, Sync Library is not active. I manage the music on the iPhone by connecting it to the Mac and manually syncing the checked songs.

Also, this doesn't happen listening to a playlist. There, it follows the order I set in the Playlist. But when in "Songs" view, Music isn't playing the songs in order. For instance, in the screen below, I clicked on "Death On Two Legs." You can the disparity between the song order and Music queued up.

"OK, thanks for your help. Apple has a LOT to fix in Apple Music, but I get the feeling what I see as annoying glitches, they see as features. I just don't think they want music listeners to be in charge of what they listen to anymore."
