iPhone 14 camera/flashlight stopped after iOS update
Respected Sir/Madam,
I am writing to formally report a hardware malfunction caused immediately after an official iOS software update, and to request appropriate resolution from Apple Support.
I am Priyanshu Katara, I AM IndiaN and the owner of an iPhone 14, approximately 1.5 years old. After updating my device from iOS 18 to iOS 26, the rear camera and flashlight stopped functioning completely.
I visited an Apple Authorized Service Center, where the device was reset. I was then informed that the rear camera must be replaced at a cost of ₹16,500, which I was advised to pay out of pocket. I was also informed that a service program exists for iPhone 14 Plus, but not for iPhone 14, despite the issue arising after a software update provided by Apple.
I respectfully submit that:
- The device was functioning normally prior to the iOS update
- The failure occurred immediately after the update
- No physical damage or misuse was involved
- A software update should not cause permanent hardware failure
- The cost of repair should not be borne by the consumer in such cases
Therefore, I request Apple to review this case under software-related support or goodwill repair, and provide a free or subsidized repair/replacement of the affected components.
I trust Apple’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction and hope this matter will be resolved at the earliest.
Device Details:
Model: iPhone 14
Serial Number: QQVK9WD***
Thank you for your attention. I look forward to your prompt response.
Yours sincerely,
Priyanshu Katara
