Deactivate a lost or stolen phone

“My phone has been lost before connecting to my apple id . I believe someone has stolen it. How can I deactivate it so that it cannot be used? I have the phone box pictures and the purchase receipt available.”

Niel, is correct. If the phone wasn't setup on your Apple Account, nor signed into Find My, the only thing you can do is ask your carrier to blacklist the phone. You'll never see the phone and there is no way for you to disable or track it.

Until it is signed in with your Apple Account, Apple technically do not recognise it as "yours" as far as tools are concerned.

Until you install a SIM you don't have a wireless carrier to cancel it either (outside USA anyway)


If you suspect the thief then contact law enforcement, otherwise it is down to getting a refund from the sender under their insurance or using your credit card buyer protection.
