Will factory reset delete apps on MacBook Air M1?

If I reset my MacAir M1 back to factory settings will it also delete my apps or is there a way o save them

Yes, a factory reset will erase your installed third-party apps and all of your user accounts and data. Apple apps that come preinstalled with macOS do not get deleted.


If you wish to save any of your stuff, backup your Mac before doing a reset. Time Machine is Apple's built in backup software, all you need to bring to the part is an external drive with twice the capacity of the startup drive that you will be backing up.

Any apps you have installed yourself can likely be downloaded from the source again.
