MacBook Pro 16-inch 2019 crashing - panic

My macBook Pro 16 inch 2019 with intel processor crashes a lot lately with this error. I added it as a additional text.

I tried reinstalling clean but nothing helps and I am worried it is something hardware related.

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 15.5

If you have any peripherals connected to this Mac, I suggest you disconnect them all and run the computer that way for a while to troubleshoot the problem. Panics are often (usually?) hardware related.

Otherwise, consider any new software that you may have added in the recent past. You might try uninstalling that and see what effect that has.

If the problem persists, please run an EtreCheck (free) evaluation of your Mac and post the generated report back here in a reply. EtreCheck is a safe and highly regarded utility from a trusted developer and respected ASC contributor. The report EtreCheck generates will not include any personal info. It simply gathers specifics about hardware, performance and installed software that might be in conflict with the OS.

Please navigate to EtreCheck.com to download the utility. Be sure to Allow Full Disk Access when you install the app. Once you’ve run the app and created your report please post it with your reply to this message.

Please note you must upload the full report. To see how, please clickHow to use Add Text when posting… EtreCheck Report.

We’ll use your EtreCheck report to look for the things that may be causing your problem and advise how to correct them.

the current Sequoia is 15.7.4 I would start there

This error indicates a panic specifically related to the Virtual Memory Compressor (vm_compressor.c).

The system is attempting to decompress memory that is not properly mapped or exists outside of the available compressed memory segments.

If no resolve—

unplug all non-essential peripherals when testing

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS

Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac for hardware issues

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202731 —even with no error code it could still be a hardware issue yes.

In all honesty I have not seen similar, however the 2019 Intel 16" MBP has a higher than you would hope logic board issues.

Present the panic to Apple for further assistance:

In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment

Make an appointment for a "hardware issue"

Out of curiosity you can look at Memory pressure and get a sense of Swap (VM) / compressed.

I agree!

based on what leroydouglas sees, and your original complaint AND:

 2026-03-06 16:45:41 iCloudNotificationAgent Crash

    Executable: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/iCloudNotification.framework/iCloudNotificationAgent

    Details:

libdispatch.dylib: BUG IN CLIENT OF LIBDISPATCH: Owner in ulock is unk

      nown - possible memory corruption

      Abort Cause 4294901759

you should run the diagnostic.

It might catch something.

But if it does not, that does not give you any additional confidence that "all is well".

memory problems are very hard to catch in the act of falling.

Also, each time you restart your Mac, the initial load address is randomized as a hedge against fixed address attacks. A bad RAM cell moves into a different routine, and the failures will appear random because of that.

A NON-Trend implicates a memory problem

You are still on macOS Sequoia 15.5 (24F74) ????

It was already recommended above "the current Sequoia is 15.7.4 I would start there "

I am unclear why your MacIntosh HD - Data is showing as a virtual drive(?)

your run time looks good —

Runtime: 2:58 Performance: Excellent SDD is working as expected, what are you left with here—

The Intel 2019 has a known history of logic board faults... this too was already referenced above in the error report: "vm_compressor.c" This error indicates a panic specifically related to the Virtual Memory Compressor

My instinct here is you have a memory issue ie RAM (?) this would be a hardware issue...

Hello, I am updating the OS as we speak. For storage I have 900GB/1 TB free because I clean installed :). The memory:

Update: every update for the OS I try fails... I cannot go to 15.7.4 or to 26.3.1. No reason given except for internet problems or contact apple support. Internet is fine to... another problem to try and solve :(
