iCalendar app data disappeared after iOS update

My iPhone 12 updated last week and now all my data that was in my iCalendar app has vanished. Does anyone have any recommendations for me to try? This is a devastating situation if it’s not recoverable. I back up my iPhone to iCloud, iCalendar included.

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 26

Calendar data is maintained by the email account that the calendar syncs to; it is not stored natively on the iPhone, and is not included in backups, because it syncs to the email account. Go to Settings/Apps/Calendar/Accounts and see which account(s) have Calendar enabled, then make sure you are logged in to those email accounts. If you have recently deleted an email account that might be why the calendar events disappeared.

The other thing to check is which calendars are being displayed. Open Calendar, tap on the Calendar icon at the bottom and make sure all of your calendars are checked.

Update: after trial and error of many things, including successfully downloading the .ics files from my Apple iCloud, successfully importing them into a new Gmail account— creating a backup— and then deleted the app and reinstalled. When I did, all the data was there. There was a complication with a family sharing restructuring process and newly establishing autonomous Apple IDs. Happy it all worked out for me— all data restored and I’m relieved about that!

This isn’t the case..BEWARE, Apple is not being truthful. If you update the new software, you will lose your calendar info stored for some time. Don’t update it!!

I guess you didn’t read the CORRECT answer that I posted.

If an update caused calendar data to be deleted then there would be tens of thousands of posts about it from the millions of users who updated, and the trade press would be all over it. My post is the correct response.

Further, the original poster had already updated, so your post is too late.

And it is 6 weeks to late also.
