iOS 27 CarPlay not working after update on 2 different iPhones, that worked perfectly before the update.

On September 14, 2026 after ios 27 update, my Apple CarPlay does not work with my iPhone pro max. I have tried all suggestions so far. They do nothing. Our car has been working fine for wife’s 17 pro and my 13 pro max.Is there a software bug that needs a fix?

Update…sort of. I got it to connect. It only works the first time I plug it in. If I disconnect and try to connect again it will no longer recognize my phone. My work around to that is if I restart my multimedia display and plug my phone back in, it works. Stupid workaround but, it’s all I got for now until they release an iOS update that fixes CarPlay compatibility.

Hello!! So I have an iPhone 17 Pro Max and a 2019 Honda CR-V with WIRED CarPlay ONLY. My CarPlay has stopped working entirely as soon as I did the update 3 weeks ago and nothing I’ve done has fixed it. I have tried turning both my phone and my car off and back on, completely forgetting my car as a device in my phone and vice versa, doing a full system reboot clearing all old data from my car’s infotainment center, made sure my content and restrictions said it allowed CarPlay, turned off connectivity assist in my WiFi settings, and literally everything else under the sun. When I called Apple, they said they’ve not heard of this being an issue. When I told them about this whole forum of people, they said they’re only able to flag it as an issue if people actually call it in, so PLEASE CALL APPLES CUSTOMER SERVICE!! That being said, I’ve also called Honda, and while they said any firmware updates they have have absolutely nothing to do with CarPlay’s functionality, I did receive a Firmware Update notice for my car in the mail. That is the only thing I have yet to try and will update y’all if it works!

I wanted to add to this , that the latest update to IOS version 27.0.1 unfortunately made it even worse .

The sound remains, and music etc . But the screen gets so pixalated, i cant read the instructions no more :(

And once again , that switching over to my girlfriends 16 pro , no issues at all . on full screen or split screen

made me regret buying this phone

OK, so I got back home and tried pairing CarPlay again with my VW. It appears to be working in wired mode with a USB-C cable connected. I also had another iPhone running iOS 26 connected, and I was able to switch between the two phones without any issues. However, in wireless mode, it only connects once during the initial setup while the cable is connected. Once you disconnect the cable from the phone, CarPlay will not reconnect wirelessly. I’m going to use it in wired mode for the next few days to confirm that it works consistently. After that, I’ll reset everything and try connecting CarPlay wirelessly again. With the Hyundai, it worked flawlessly. I drove for four hours with multiple stops, causing CarPlay to disconnect and reconnect several times, and it worked exactly as expected every time. The issue is definitely with iOS 27.

I simply cannot understand how a renowned, publicly traded company like Apple, with its track record and reputation for perfecting products before implementing them in its own devices, can allow an issue like this to persist for months.

There are countless reports from iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro Max users, and the number of complaints, particularly on Reddit, speaks for itself. This is clearly not an isolated issue, yet Apple still seems unable to resolve it.

What I find especially frustrating is that my older iPhones worked perfectly fine when getting into my 2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class and using the car's systems. However, with the newer iPhones, which have now been on the market for almost a year, I am still experiencing this problem.

How is it possible that a company like Apple, which prides itself on its seamless integration of hardware and software, has been unable to identify and fix an issue that affects so many users for such a long time?

This is not what I expect from Apple, especially when the exact same car worked perfectly with older iPhones. I really hope Apple takes these reports seriously and provides a proper fix rather than leaving customers dealing with the same frustrating issue month after month.

i just did the most recent update last night and was driving in my car and for an hour and a half and suddenly didn’t have Bluetooth or Wi-Fi capability, no matter how many times I reset my iPhone (which is the iPhone 17 Pro Max) and disconnected all my mobile devices from my car, it would not connect and at home my Iphone doesn’t want to connect to home internet as well and is taking an extremely long respond/connect - and it is NOT my home internet.

I have been having many problems with Carplay after iOS27 Interestingly, with the beta of iOS27 everything was working perfectly, but since the public release, having the following issues:

ENVIRONMENT: Wireless Apple Carplay on 2025 Lexus NX 250 and on a 2026 Honda Goldwing. iPhone 17 Pro with iOS 27.

MESSAGES APP:

  1. Invoke Siri (talk button on steering wheel)
  2. Say "Messages" or "Play Unread Messages"
  3. Takes several seconds for Siri to respond, it she responds at all
  4. Will play back multiple messages but does not stop after each message to offer me an opportunity to reply to a specific message or sender
  5. Will not clear played messages from the playback list
  6. So, let's say I get another new message. If I invoke Siri and ask for unread messages, she repeats all of the previous messages that she has already read.
  7. The notification number on the Messages app never gets cleared even after playing the messages

APPLE MAPS:

  1. Invoke Siri
  2. Say "Get directions to "2222 Anywhere Street"
  3. Apple Maps goes right into a route without letting me confirm that it is the correct address or business (if I asked for directions to a business by name)
  4. When the verbal navigation are played, the radio is muted and never returns. The radio stays muted until the route is ended.
  5. It will often not allow me to end the route. I get a message "route cannot be ended at this time"

These issues happen on both my 2025 Lexus and the 2026 Goldwing.

I have tried going to Bluetooth and Forget This Device for both the car and motorcycle and have re-paired each.

I have tried turning Wifi off and back on

Nothing seems to make a difference

Hello @GoldwingTX,

Re: "I have been having many problems with Carplay ..."

Thank you for your thougtful post, for providing a clear picture of your issues, and what you have already tried.

Not everyone using iOS 27 versions has CarPlay issues, and some with issues initially, have found their own solutions fixed their issues. Each case is unique.

(1) Have you tried checking for firmware updates for the stereo / infotainment systems in both vehicles ... the vehicle manuals or the manufacturer's "support / help" website may provide more info.

(2) Have you checked through Apple support's trouble-shooting article (link below) for tips:

If CarPlay isn't working as you would expect it to, find out what to do:

If you need help with CarPlay

(3) Have you updated the iPhone's iOS to the latest version:

ie: About iOS 27 Updates - Apple Support says "iOS 27.0.1" is the latest

"This update provides bug fixes for your iPhone" (more info. in article)

(4) If installed on iPhone: VPN, (if not provided by an employer) can be responsible for interference ... as it still runs in the background when turned off, using an uninstaller from the developer is the best way to get rid of it, and any associated files.

(5) As Apple customers, just as you are, no-one here has the access to fix software bugs. If that is what you suspect: Apple welcomes feedback, yet is unlikely to see your post to us here.

All feedback is carefully read and logged. If others are reporting similar issues, and Apple finds its software is responsible, there may be an update that addresses those issues. The more feedback Apple receives on which iPhone models, software versions, and vehicle models are affected, the more likely the issues will be addressed. (You could include a link to your post here, if you wish)

Apple's feedback website provides web-forms designed to reach those who work on the software behind-the-scenes at Apple.

All the best :-)

1. Unblock CarPlay in Screen Time

The update can flip this off in the background.

  • Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Allowed Apps.
  • Make sure CarPlay is turned ON.

2. Turn on lock screen permissions

  • Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, and turn on Allow CarPlay While Locked.
  • Go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode, scroll down, and make sure Siri is turned ON.

3. Remove the car and pair it fresh

  • On your iPhone: Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, and select Forget This Car.
  • On your car screen: Delete your phone from the saved Bluetooth or CarPlay list.
  • Restart your phone, turn the car off and back on, and set up the connection again from scratch.

4. Reset Network Settings

  • Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. (This clears saved Wi-Fi passwords, so you'll have to type them back in).

5. Turn off any VPN apps

  • Go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management and turn off any active VPN. VPNs frequently break CarPlay wireless handshakes after major updates.

I’ve just installed iOS 27.2 as well.

I have another long drive tomorrow, so I’m curious to see how many times I’ll have to reboot the system before I can use navigation through CarPlay again.

Every time a new iOS update comes out, I get my hopes up that there might finally be a fix for the CarPlay issues.

Unfortunately, so far, there’s been no mention of anything that addresses the problem. So, let’s see how things go tomorrow… to be continued!

This is also the first time since the iPhone 4 that I haven’t bought a new iPhone. Normally, I upgrade every year, but after reading that the same issue was affecting the iPhone 18 as well, I immediately cancelled my pre-order.

Something else crossed my mind recently. Since Apple started using its own Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips with the iPhone 17, could this potentially be contributing to the problem?

I’m wondering whether there could be an issue with the handshake between the iPhone and the car’s infotainment system, preventing the CarPlay connection from being established properly.

Could this be related to the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth hardware or the way the connection is negotiated, rather than being purely a software issue?

Because my other iphones ( Iphone pro 16 & 14 ) from my girlfriend and my work phone, also on IOS 27 works fine , without any issues . it began after i upgraded to the 17 PM .

I had an iPhone 15 Pro and a Honda CRV 2026. iPhone 15 Pro did not work with the CarPlay. It kept cutting out when asking siri to text someone. It also went black screen And froze on me. There were times where the speaker would be loud on the right side and then go back to normal. I had a new monitor put in. That didn’t work. It still did the cutting out in the mid sentence. I decided to upgrade to an iPhone 18 and itworked perfectly fine until I installed the iOS 27.2 therefore I found the problem it’s Apple iOS 27.2 where they haven’t caught up to CarPlay . Apple, let’s get your act together and try to inform CarPlay about your automatic upgrade installation. Now I have to uninstall iOS 27.2 and go back to the earlier and lose all my data and reset my phone. Unless someone knows what to do about the issue of cutting out. It was working fine until My iPhone 18 installed the iOS 27.2.

iOS 27 CarPlay not working after update on 2 different iPhones, that worked perfectly before the update.
