iTunes 10 breaks Firefly Media Server / mt-daapd

iTunes 10 does not work with Firefly Media Server / mt-daapd on my local network. iTunes 9.2.1 worked fine. iTunes 10 will fetch the playlists, but will not fetch any media files.

rsp svn-1696
daap svn-169
Mac OS X 10.6.4

It's not the server software, iTunes 9.2.1 still works fine with it on another Mac and Songbird with the daapd client plugin also plays music from the server fine when iTunes 10 on the same Mac will not.

Is there any way to fix this, if not, how do I downgrade back to iTunes 9.2.1 safely? Right now it is refusing to install due to a newer version installed and I don't want to proceed until I know how to do so safely. Thanks.

Thanks for getting back to me Munkyboy. I did fix it with 10.0.1.
btw- I was able to install FreeBSD on my FreeNAS server using some instructions I found on http://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/freenas/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=2071

I was also abel to download the FireFly code and compile but didn't get far enough to figure out where it needs to go on my USB drive to survive a reboot.
If anyone know that, please send me the path.

Thanks again!

It looks like now it is working fine for music streaming on my Drobo FS Firefly app. Nice, and thanks Apple.

But one thing I'm not sure of, iTunes cannot see the artist name, album and so on. Was it there like this before or it is something new? I just can't remember. Anyone can tell me if I should, normally, see those metadata in iTunes? Personally, I think it should...

Can you please consider posting a youtube video on "how to set-up firefly" on your droboFS?

or maybe a blog post that is a "review of firefly on drobofs?"

or
"what can Firefly do for you on your DroboFS" type of post.

In general I'm having a really hard time finding tutorials for Droboapps for the droboFS and wish users who have success would share with "how-to" and "FAQ" type webposts / videos / reviews / walk-throughs / etc.

I have read the entire thread here. I see that iTunes 10 was not compatible with Firefly. I also see that there may be a patch available for Firefly. I also read that newer versions of iTunes 10 may have fixed this problem, at least on some OS platforms.

I am hoping someone can give me some specific advice on whether iTunes 10 should now be working on my configuration or whether some patch might fix my problem.

I am running Firefly on a Western Digital MyBook World Edition NAS, which runs some light form of Linux. I am running iTunes 10.1.2.17 on a Windows 7 laptop.

iTunes used to happily see my NAS as a Shared Library, but stopped working sometime last fall, presumably when I upgraded to iTunes 10. Right now, iTunes does not even see my Shared Library on the NAS (although it will load files from the NAS if I simply use the NAS as a network hard drive). I believe the Firefly media server is still running correctly. I have gone in and deleted Firefly's database and it re-builds the database correctly, so I think Firefly is running correctly.

So, given my configuration, should iTunes see the shared Firefly library on my NAS? If so, any guesses as to why it can’t? If not, will the patch that was mentioned previously work for me?

If I need to apply the patch, can someone please post a more detailed explanation of how to apply the patch? I’m not total hopeless with Linux, but I need a little more detail than what I saw in this thread.

Thanks!

I have been upgrading a lot of software lately on the Mac and now I'm using iTunes version 10.5 which CANNOT connect to the FireFly streaming server anymore (the audio list is not displayed).

Did I miss "reading" something about upgrading the Firefly server as well? My MT-Daapd server can be connected from my Rythembox audio player on Ubuntu but why not from the Mac?
