Crackling Noise During Music Playback after iOS 4.1 Update
Hey guys. Play music through my iPhone via USB in my Prius. Music has always been fine, but when i updated to 4.1, then started to play music in my car, i noticed a crackling noise during music playback. I thought maybe the speakers were blown, but there is no such sound when i play music CDs or pandora or anything other than the Mp3s. Is anyone having music playback issues after the 4.1 update???
Macbook Pro 2.2Ghz 4GB RAM 160GB HDD,
Mac OS X (10.6.4),
iPhone 4 16GB
According to what I have heard, 4.2 is supposed to fix this. I gave up caring a long time ago and switched to a different iPod. Thanks Apple.
Oh, and they are aware of the problem. At least some of them are, especially the programmers. When I first reported this to tech support they didn't believe me either but after a bit of bad press reports they got the hint and I actually got a few call backs from their engineering dept. wanting more details..etc.
I have this issue, too, when my iPhone 4 with iOS 4.1 is connected to my car audio deck (JVC KD-R600) via its USB feature. The car is a Mazda Protege 5.
Get crackling sounds approx every few secs, varying obviously. Never get any if it's not USB-connected and I am just playing music either through ear buds or the built-in speaker.
Have tried 2 different connector cables. I don't have this issue with either an iPod Nano or iPod Classic.
Hi my 3gs 18 gig worked faultlesly with my JVC KD-AVX44via bluetooth and cable now wont do anything since the update wont talk to my mac via bluetooth either gutted
I can confirm that this is indeed an issue with iOS 4.1 in my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. No problems before 4.1 the update, but now listening to music through the USB connection is unbearable.
I have experienced the same issue on my Fiat 500 in the UK which uses Fiat's Blue & Me system (similar to SYNC in the USA in that it is developed by Microsoft, but used by Alpha Romeo and Fiat)
The audio from Spotify or iPod is of such poor quality it is unbearable. It is as if the audio buffering now can't keep up, and the sound crackles and distorts out of time.
It was absolutely fine until the upgrade to 4.1. Fix URGENTLY required.
Went to an Apple store here in Holland..
Put THE iPhone in à dock there, and it played flawless :S
But in the car It's still the same problem..
They said I was the first one to come in with this problem,
BUT, The problem won't be fixed untill the next update somewhere in November..
I've made several calls to apple tech support, but they all say they have never heard of this issue, and if it was happening to more people then me they would be getting a lot of calls about it.
I'm optimistic that a lot of you beta testers no longer have the problem on 4.2, but I'm also worried since all the Apple techs seem to know nothing about this. If it isn't fixed in 4.2 I dont know what I'll do without music in my car for much longer...
On the positive side maybe this lockscreen security issue will expedite the release of 4.2
I have been wondering if anyone is useing the beta iPhone software? And if the issue has been fixed? I am not a dev so I don't have access to report it. I am curious to know if putting the iPhone in airplane mode might help? Is anyone useing the new ipod touch and experiencing the issue or is it only happening on iPhone? I also have experienced grainy distorted audio on the headphone out also and I am ripping in 320 AAC. I had picked up a new shuffle and call me crazy but the audio sounded better from it rather than my iPhone?
Same problem with Alpine IDA X305 and Iphone 3GS since update to 4.1. Maybe someone with a current Apple warranty could point them to this page if they keep insisting they haven't heard of the problem before.
Spent LOTS of money on iPhone and head unit and expect it to keep working when iPhone upgraded.
I'm experiencing the same crackling noises VIA USB in my car using a JVC KD-A815.
Audio VIA BT or VIA analogue is perfect.
I called JVC tech support, and they are fully aware of the problem - it's obviously not a JVC issue, and is confirmed to be unique to FW iOS 4.1.
Crossing fingers that 4.2 fixes it good and proper, as these snaps and crackles are driving me nuts.
I was able to download the iOS 4.2 gold master for the iPhone 4 but it did not seem to fix this issue for me. I have a 2010 Ford Fusion with SYNC. Prior to 4.1 the USB playback worked fine. Now, even with 4.2 there are certain songs that are pausing/skipping just as I had with 4.1. I'll try repairing my phone with SYNC and see if that makes a difference but so far I don't think 4.2 is going to do it.
I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one. I have a JVC kw-avx830 dvd deck and I can hear crackling sounds every few seconds. It's frustrating to install a $5000 system and hear crackling sounds. At first I thought it was the factory cable from JVC so I replaced that with the way overpriced AV/USB cable from Apple and that helped some, but not entirely. Along with the proximity sensor and bluetooth issues, I'm sorry I upgraded to 4.1.
