Crackling Noise During Music Playback after iOS 4.1 Update

It has a 30 pin connector on one end and a video, left & right audio, and usb on the other end. It cost about $50 at the Apple store.

Update on my previous post. Even with 4.2 my problem seems to be specific to one album. I tried removing the songs and reimporting into iTunes. They played fine in iTunes but not in my car through USB. I decided to remove the songs and ripped them again. This time they seem to work fine now. Not sure if I'll find other songs like this or not.

Are you getting the crackling noises by using the analogue audio outputs too? Or just the digital USB interface?

Mine works flawlessly using any audio output except the digital USB interface!

It sounds to me like it's working for you. The file that was skipping, what is the bitrate (eg 256kbps), format (eg mp3 or m4a), sample rate (eg 44.1 kHz), and what tool did you use to encode them with (eg iTunes) ?

I used iTunes the latest version on a mac at 320vbr 44.1khz m4a

I can confirm same thing in my 2010 Ford Edge using SYNC. No stuttering via USB until after the 4.1 upgrade. Very annoying....

Is there anybody who knows the release date for the update yet??

The release date has not been published yet...

We are expecting it this week however.

Incredibly disheartening that it sounds like the OS beta update didn't solve this problem either though... what can be done if we're all still stuck with this same issue after the update? Literally some days it works well with minimal "skipping" other days (like today) it's so bad that it renders listening to my iPhone through the sync cable completely unlistenable.

Worse is that it's not limited to one car stereo manufacturer, this is a widespread issue across multiple brands and platforms. If the big sell behind this device is still that the iPhone merges the cell phone with the world's leading MUSIC player, this issue has to be fixed...

I'm really hoping that the update solves it all..
If not, i'm going to ask/demand either t-mobile or Apple for a compensation..
For all of the time we already waited as well..

I agree it absolutely needs to be fixed, but why do you think it will not be fixed in 4.2?

I fully expect a complete resolution in 4.2. There has been no evidence to the contrary as of yet that I am aware of.

I have been using OS 4.2 beta for some months and now have the gold master and all audio is crysta, from usb and headphone jackl, and there is some really cool features too

I installed the Gold Standard 4.2 Beta and the iTunes 10.1b onto my iMac and then restored my iphone4 with them. When I hooked up to my car stereo via USB the music was perfect once again. Hopefully this will be continue to be true when the real update comes later this week. I had lots of digital blips in the music, but only when hooked to the car stereo by USB. Appears the problem solved by the update.

Thanks to you and Warren Wright. The gold master should be the version shipped to everyone -- hopefully this is fixed. If not, more drastic measures will need to be taken.

This is ridiculous thats this has taken them over 2 months to address. 100's of people have called tech support and left feed back and the techs always claim " this is the first we have heard of this". they should have released 4.1.1 or something to that effect a month ago.

***I did find that if you start playing music then open a game and mute the sound on only the game( Angry birds lite is free and works for me) then leave the game running ( do not lock your iphone/Ipod touch) that the skipping and noises go away 100%. *** I hope that helps a few ppl, at least until Apple finally released 4.2
