Crackling Noise During Music Playback after iOS 4.1 Update
Hey guys. Play music through my iPhone via USB in my Prius. Music has always been fine, but when i updated to 4.1, then started to play music in my car, i noticed a crackling noise during music playback. I thought maybe the speakers were blown, but there is no such sound when i play music CDs or pandora or anything other than the Mp3s. Is anyone having music playback issues after the 4.1 update???
Macbook Pro 2.2Ghz 4GB RAM 160GB HDD,
Mac OS X (10.6.4),
iPhone 4 16GB
djltoronto - a previous user, dmjones had mentioned that while the gold master alleviated most of the problem, he was still having specific issues but at least they were isolated... luckily others have chimed in and it sounds more promising now. Hopefully 4.2 does the trick and we'll all be talking about the next big bug in a couple weeks.
Just to add to this thread, I don't have a car but I have just bought a Denon AVR-1911 and when I connect my iPhone 4 to it via the USB, I too get this awful crackling and popping. I initially thought the AVR was faulty but thankfully I Googled and found this discussion!
Phew , I too have a Denon 1911 and have the same issue with my Ipod 3G touch thought there was an issue with the Denon.. I was given an original Ipod Nano(about 4yrs old ) and it works fine through the USB with no crackling ..So much for progress
iPhone 3G, recent update, Pioneer AVH-P3200DVD --- SAME ISSUES! I had not researched anyone else's issues until after going and purchasing a new $20 USB iPhone cable (which obviously was not my issue).
I have this great head unit with awesome capabilities, only to be rendered crap due to an iPhone update.
PAhhh...updated from 4.1 to 4.2.1 on my 3GS and all I get now is a constant ipod error reported by my Alpine IDA-X001, I can no longer even borwse the collection and crackly music. I rebooted the phone several times which had no effect...Alpine would search for Iphone on connection then return error. Its gone from bad to worse....this is just REDICULOUS.
Well, I updated and so far it seems to have fixed the skipping problem on my ipod touch 4G and Alpine ida-305s. But while listening I did notice some cracks that aren't on the songs when I listen with headphone. Kinda sounds like I have a turntable in my car. Not too loud, very faint, but still not right. I can live with that, couldn't live with the skipping though. I have 10 days left at BB to return the Alpine and Ipod. If it starts skipping they both go back and I will buy a used classic and older Alpine with Ipod controls. Same setup I used to run. and it was WAAAAY more responsive and easier to navigate to specific artists/songs, and never had one issue with them.
I updated my iPhone 3GS to iOS4.2 last night. I am pleased to report you that iphone 3GS now plays music in crystal clear sound without any noises with Prius 2010 iphone connection kit system. At least the problem has been solved in this combination. I hope others are also solved.
This is pathetic. I listened to a podcast this morning and the crackling was unbearable. What a joke. I really thought apple was better than this but now my whole thoughts on the company are changed. No ipad for me this xmas:(
Been looking everywhere for a solution and can't find any. My other iPhones (2g & 3g) always worked fine with my car head unit, an Alpine iDA-X001. Got an iPhone 4 on release day and that worked fine too. Then a software update to iOS 4.1 and suddenly theres crackling and stuttering coming through the stereo. I put up with this for quite a while even though it was extremely annoying. Different sources I'd read from said that iOS 4.2 would fix it and all would be back to normal. How wrong could I be? Unless you call not working any more a fix for the crackling and stuttering! Not very good at all!
