Airplay on old Apple TV

Hi. I have a now old apple tv. I was wondering will it support the new ios feature airplay or not? Also will it support the renting tv shows? Thanks.

It isn't designed to do that. Read the AirPlay info posted on Apple's web site.

if you have the pictures on a Mac with iPhoto or a Flikr or MobileMe account you can point the appleTV to any of those and flick through your photos using remote app on your iPhone.

Would I just be better off buying FlashATV and be able to stream everything including non itunes stuff to my 40gb ATV?

Totally disappointed that Apple have not supported Airplay with 1st Gen Apple TV ~ a little recognition, respect and support to your loyal early adopter customers would go along way.

lets put it this way spitty, if firecore get it all working in their software, I can see their sales going up with people on ATV1 switching.

The ATV1 is not a couple month old product. It was released over 3 1/2 years ago. It has not received any updates since then except a larger hard drive.

yep, I meant hardware, which means it is quite old as far as technology goes.
