macbook pro core i7 high res anti-glare screen garbled graphics

My two month old macbook pro consistently (once every day or two) produces a garbled up screen after using it for a few hours. The only way to resolve this is to restart the computer. I've talked with apple support and have gone into the store for help and so far everyone is clueless and offer no real advice. I can't take a screenshot on the machine once this occurs, the picture just comes up blank, but I did take pictures with my cellphone.

Has anyone else had a similar issue and is this most likely a graphics hardware error?

and like i said. Even if you're not getting graphics problems i still think that Safari and Flash don't play nice together. Chrome seems MUCH faster than Safari seemed to be. I think that's because Safari was slowed down by incompatibilities with Flash. I seem to remember Safari starting out fast, then it slows down and ends up with graphics glitching, and crashing, and bomb screens.

It's not just a few garbled graphics. It totally F'ed up my whole computer. Now it runs lightening fast. and error free.

i have 38 posts and every 3 of those probably say the same thing.

I would have to agree with you, I find that Safari and Flash do not play well together at all. Infact using a particular website I like (Channel 4's video on demand service 4OD, which by the way is a reputable website from a major UK broadcaster) would hard crash my machine when using all versions of flash except Flash Plug-In 10.0.45.2 ---

Literally visiting the site in Safari and playing a video with any other version would 100% consistently cause my machine to lockup and force reboot.

The way I ended up diagnosing the issue was the fact that Chrome (which I think has a built in flash player rather than a plug in) didn't cause the issue.

I'm not saying everyone who has a problem with the graphics on this thread is seeing it because of flash, just agreeing that the only time I have lockups or garbled graphics is not when I'm playing intensive graphical apps (i.e. HalfLife 2/ Left for Dead 2 on steam) but only when I am using Safari and Flash.

Hope this helps,

Regards,
John

because Mac OS is an OPERATING SYSTEM.

I don't see why people have this backwards opinion that it's Apples responsibility to make sure all third party applications work on the Mac OS.

If Adobe wants to make a program for Mac OS isn't it Adobe's responsibility to make it work right?????????????

Don't people see this is EXACTLY why steve jobs can't support Flash??????????????????????

If someone used windows XP and upgraded to Vista i think it would be really dumb to just assume all your XP programs will work perfectly after the upgrade to Vista. So would would anyone assume all their leopard apps will work perfectly after they upgrade to snow leopard????? Does it mean the new OS must be broken because all your old XP apps don't work perfect. Obviously not.

This is exactly how i resolved the issue on my computer. 😉

People get too attached to Safari and don't want to let go. I was the same way. But boy was i glad i switched when i did. Haven't looked back.

If you actually read the thread everyone that suggests simply switching browsers hasn't visited the thread since they switched. I'm sure they haven't looked back.

Now all the people that are left posting here with problems are the people that don't care to give up Safari + Flash. It seems to be a huge trend that everyone with problems uses Safari+Flash as their browser.

i did what you advised but im still having problems. was realy hoping that after reading the luck u have had this would work for me but it hasnt. after reinstall i didn use safari and used firefox ( dont like chrome as google keep every piece of info even in private browsing) after few hours started getting choppy images for few seconds ( still also only using nvida chip) after 2 wks of this im back using safari as if im gna have the probles id rather have it in safari 😟
i did try using chrome before i went back to safari but was having more problems than with firefox. am gna go to genius again nxt wk hopeully but have no faith that they are gna fix it.
i really think this has to be a bigger problem then flash and hopefully it'l come to light soon

Now that i think about it:

How did you download Firefox without using Safari?

I don't believe Safari is the issue at all. If you do a clean wipe and reinstall, then you should be left with Safari as your only browser but WITHOUT Flash. If you don't install Flash on Safari, then it should work fine i would think. If you want to use Flash then i would download Firefox or Chrome.

One thing with Firefox i'd be worried about is installing Flash onto the SYSTEM and not exclusively on Firefox. With Chrome the Flash is incorporated so i wouldn't think the Flash working in Chrome would affect any other program.

IMO Flash is the problem. The flash installer may be the problem, i don't know. But i'd be wary downloading Flash specifically and installing it on my computer. I would think that simply downloading Chrome would be safer since Flash is incorporated.

let us know what happens please.

so far, still using safari but turned off graphics switching. Yes, I agree, not the best, but I am very use to the was safari works and as long as it's fixed with what I am doing, that works for me. It looks like 10.6.7 might (possibly) be addressing this whole thing. This way, when it is fixed (for sure), I just turn graphics switching back on and continue on my way.
It would seem that one has several options to choose from for a temporary fix, and depending on one's opinion, they are all acceptable for now.
